A & P (Former) Parking Lot, Hewitt, NJ.  Now the shopping center for Highland's Market and TSC Tractor Supply

I-287 North: Take Exit 55 to Rt. 511N. Pass through town of Wanaque and entrance to the Wanaque Reservoir. Continue on 511 past Skyline Drive, Stonetown Road and Dam. Go over Monksville Reservoir and pass Long Pond Iron Works State Park. The next landmark is Awosting Road, clearly marked. Just before sign for Greenwood Airport, bear right onto Greenwood Lake Road. Follow this road past some marinas and lake shores. Shortly thereafter, you will see a shopping center with the former A & P on the left. There will be a tall sign/marquis by the road side in the shopping center parking lot. Meet by this sign. If you have a GPS, the address is 1926 Union Valley Road, Hewitt, NJ.

Allamuchy Mountain State Park - Deer Park Road, Hackettstown, NJ

Rt. 80 to Exit 19. Turn left at bottom of ramp onto Rt. 517South. Follow 517S past Panther Valley strip mall and Shell station. Look for Matars BISTRO on right. In another 1/10 mile, look for a brick ranch and Deer Road on the left. Turn left onto Deer Park Road and follow the road down to the first parking lot. (It is about 2 miles from the ramp off Rt 80 to Deer Park Road.)

Allamuchy Twp., NJ, Elementary School Parking Lot

I-80 West to Exit 19 (Hackettstown, Andover Route 517 Exit) At bottom of ramp, cross over Route 517, go down hill (667N). At 1/10 mile, make left at Allamuchy General Store; go down hill to Allamuchy Township Elementary School Parking Lot on the right.

Apshawa Preserve, West Milford, NJ    Parking Area at Entrance

I-287 to exit 53 (Bloomingdale). Go west on Hamburg Turnpike. Follow through town, at "Y" Hamburg Turnpike bears right and just before small bridge, make a right on to Macopin Rd. Follow Macopin up hill for approximately 2 miles and make a left on to Northwood Drive. Parking is to the right.  GPS address:  3 Northwood Drive, West Milford, NJ

Baldpate Mt    Fiddlers Creek Road - 1st parking lot

I-287S to Rt 202S. Turn on Rt 29 S (just before crossing the Delaware River). In about 6 miles, turn left onto Fiddlers Creek Road. Drive past the first entrance into the Mountain (paved road) on the left and enter into the second one (gravel road) on the left [About 0.3 miles from Rt. 29]

Batsto Village in Wharton State Forest (near Hammontown, NJ)

From South Jersey: Take Garden State Parkway North to Exit #50, exit to Route 9 North. Proceed to Route 542 & turn left. Follow signs about 12 miles to Batsto Village.

From North Jersey: Take Garden State Parkway South to Exit #52 (New Gretna). Turn right at stop sign onto E. Greenbush Road. Continue on E. Greenbush Road to the next stop sign and turn left onto Stage Road. Go over two small wooden bridges. Pilgrim Lake Campground will be on Right. Make left onto Leektown Road. Continue 2 miles to a stop sign. Stay straight on Leektown Road. Continue 3 miles to stop sign. Turn right onto Route 542 West. Stay on 542 for approx. 9 Miles. Batsto Village is on the right

Bear Mountain Hudson Docks

Take Palisades Interstate Parkway North and follow signs to Bear Mountain. At the end of the Parkway, enter the roundabout (just before the Bear Mtn. Bridge) and take the first exit onto US-9W South/US-202 South. Go 6/10 mile, to first left, just past the main entrance to Bear Mtn. down to the docks. Note, this doesn't look like a "regular" road and doesn't have a street name or sign.

Bear Mountain Inn, NY   Parking Area

Take Palisades Interstate Parkway North and follow signs to Bear Mountain.  At the end of the Parkway, enter the roundabout and take the first exit onto US-9W South/US-202 South.  Follow the signs to the Bear Mountain Inn parking area on your right. We will meet in the parking area.

Bear Mountain State Park, NY - 1777W Trail on Seven Lakes Drive

Take Palisades Interstate Parkway North to Exit 19 (Seven Lakes Drive). After about 1/2 mile, there is a dirt road on your right. Go down the dirt road and park at the end.

Bearfort Ridge, NJ

I-287 North: Take Exit 55 to Rt. 511N. Pass through town of Wanaque and entrance to the Wanaque Reservoir. Continue on 511 past Skyline Drive, Stonetown Road and Dam. Blairstown Footbridge Park, Blairstown, NJ

From 1-80W, take Exit 12 to Route 521N (Hope Blairstown Road). Continue onto Hope Road. Take slight left onto Edge Hill Road. Turn Left onto Cedar Lake Road. Parking lot is in Footbridge Park.
OR
From I-80, take Exit 12 to Route 521 to the T in Blairstown. Make a left at stop sign. Go to the first traffic light a couple hundred feet, and make a very quick left into the parking lot for Footbridge Park.

Ace Hardware Store, Bridge Street, Blairstown, NJ

I-80 West, Exit 12. Take Route 521 North to Blairstown. Turn left at T (Route 94 junction); turn right at first traffic light (leaving Routes 94 and 521). Hardware store on right. Meet on left side of building, alongside road.

Blue Mountain Lakes, NJ   Parking Area

I-80, Exit 12, Take Rt. 521 North to Blairstown. Turn left at “T” (Rt 94 junction).
Turn right at first traffic light (leaving Rts. 94 and 521).  Take County Road 602 which bends around and makes hairpin turn uphill.  Bear left and continue for about 7 miles to Millbrook (not Stillwater).  Turn right at Millbrook Village and go about 1.5 miles to the Crater Lake sign (large general store, Delaware View House - which is closed now). Make right and watch for Blue Mt. Lakes parking area.

Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, New Hope, PA

From North Jersey on 287 South: Take Exit 17 onto US 202/US206 South toward US22 W/Somerville/Flemington. Continue for 15 miles. Take roundabout to 3rd Exit to continue on US202 South for about 6.4 miles. Take ramp to Rt 179 South on right toward Lambertville. Turn right on Hwy 179 South for about 5.5 miles. Turn right onto Bridge St - crossing the Delaware River Bridge entering PA. Turn left onto PA-32 South/River Rd. After 2.5 miles the entrance to the Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve is on your right. After you pull off of River Road you will see a large stone picnic pavilion (the Moore Pavilion) on your right. Proceed past the pavilion, up the hill, and through the wrought iron gates. Follow the paved road up to our Visitor Center parking lot.

Bubbling Brook Road, Kinnelon, NJ

Take Rte 23 N to intersection of Rte 23 and Boonton Ave (County 511) south. To access 511 south, go past the intersection (you’ll pass a 7 Eleven on right) and make the first right at the U-Turn for 511 south. Back on 23 South, follow signs for right turn onto Boonton Ave (511 south). Proceed on 511 south about 0.1 miles and bear right at the Y intersection at Mount Rest Cemetery. Proceed about 0.2 miles and make 1st right onto Kakeout Road (the street sign is missing). Continue on Kakeout Road for 0.8 miles and turn left on Bubbling Brook Rd. Proceed to end of dead end road and park on the right side of the road.

Nearest address for MapQuest: 93 Cascade Way, Kinnelon, NJ (Cascade Way is right across the street from Bubbling Brook Road and you should not turn right onto Cascade Way but make the left onto Bubbling Brook)

Bull's Island Section of Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park, Rt. 29, NJ     First Parking Lot

GPS: 2185 Daniel Bray Highway, Stockton, NJ 08559

(About 6 miles North of Lambertville and 10 miles South of Frenchtown)
Meet in the first parking lot on the right, immediately after turning into the park.

From the East:  take Rt. 202 South towards Lambertville. Take the last exit before the toll, and turn North onto Rt. 29. Go about 6 miles north and you'll see the sign for Bull's Island on the left.

From the South:  take Rt. 31 North to Ringoes. Turn left onto Rt. 202 South towards Lambertville. Take the last exit before the toll, and turn North onto Rt. 29. Go about 6 miles North and you'll see the sign for Bull's Island on the left.

From the North: take Rt. 31 South or I-287 South to 202 South towards Lambertville. Take the last exit before the toll, and turn North onto Rt. 29. Go about 6 miles North and you'll see the sign for Bull's Island on the left.

Bunker Hill     255 Bunker Hill Road, Princeton NJ

From the North: I-287 South to Exit 17 (US202/US206) toward Flemington/Somerville. (Or the best route from your neighborhood towards the Somerville Circle US 206 south) Take the ramp to the Somerville Circle; Keep left at the fork to continue toward the Somerville Circle. From the Circle take the 3rd exit onto US-206 south. Go approx. 9-10 miles and make a left at Bellemead Griggstown Rd. At your first 4-way intersection, no light, make a right turn (Bellemead Griggstown turns right here) (to the left is Willow and straight is Grayson) Continue until you come to a T-intersection. This is Millstone River Road (I did not see a sign) Turn left (.1) and make the next right onto the Griggstown Causeway (yes, it is a little bridge over the canal) Take this .3 to the end and make a left onto Canal Road. Take Canal Road .6 and turn right at Bunker Hill Road. Continue for approximately a mile, looking for the right turn into the Bunker Hill Environmental Center, Franklin Township There is a sign on the right, just at the turn, keep an eye out. Park along the fence on the left. Address is 255 Bunker Hill Road, Princeton, NJ

From the South: Route 27 northbound about 8 miles, then make a left on to Bunker Hill Road. Go approx. 1.2 mile to the Bunker Hill Environmental Center and turn left.

Bushkill Meeting Place, PA

From I-80W, take Exit 309 to US-209N/PA-447N. Drive 10 miles. Parking lot is on right at 7059, US-209, East Stroudsburg, PA.

Buttermilk Falls, Rockland County, NY - Greenbush Road parking

From Palisades Interstate Parkway: Take exit 5N. Take 303N for 2.8 miles. Turn right onto Bradley Pkwy (traffic light). Go 0.2 miles and turn left onto Greenbush (Rt 11). Go 0.75 miles to parking on your right.

From I-287: Take Exit 12 to Rte 303 South for 1.7 miles. Turn left onto Bradley Parkway (traffic light). Go 0.2 miles and turn left onto Greenbush Road. Go 0.75 miles and the parking is on the left.

Campgaw Mountain County Reservation, Mahwah, NJ

From NJ Rte 17: Take the exit for Rte 202 (Ramapo Valley Rd) heading toward Morristown. In 1.7 miles, turn left on Darlington Ave. In 0.3 miles, make a slight right onto Campgaw Rd. In 1.2 miles, turn right into Campgaw Reservation. At the fork, keep left and park in first lot on your left.

From Rte 208: Take N.J. Rte 208 to the Summit Avenue exit in Franklin Lakes, following the sign for Franklin Lakes. Take Franklin Avenue. Turn right onto Pulis Avenue (County Route 3). Follow Pulis Avenue for 1.4 miles and turn left onto Campgaw Road. In about a mile and a half, turn left into Campgaw Reservation. At the fork, keep left and park in first lot on left.

Cascade Way, Kinnelon

Take Rte 23 N to intersection of Rte 23 and Boonton Ave (County 511) south. To access 511 south, go past the intersection (you’ll pass a 7 Eleven on right) and make the first right at the U-Turn for 511 south. Castle Rock Unique Area parking

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway to its northern terminus at the Bear Mountain Bridge. Cross the bridge and proceed north on N.Y. Route 9D for about 4 miles. Look carefully on the right side of the road for a wooden sign "Castle Rock Unique Area." The intersection is also marked by a street sign "Wing and Wing Road." (If you reach the junction of N.Y. Route 403, you've gone too far.) Turn right at the Castle Rock Unique Area sign, passing through a gate with two stone pillars, and bear left at the fork in the road. Continue past a red barn on the right to a gravel parking area.

Catskills - Slide Mt parking lot

NYS Thruway to Exit 19 (Kingston). Then Rt 28W (directional sign reads "Pine Hill") for 32 miles to the village of Big Indian. Turn left off Rt 28 and onto County Route 47. The Slide Mt trailhead parking lot is about 9.4 miles from the turn on the left. If you reach a lake, you've gone too far. Driving time is approximately 2 hours from the NY/NJ border.

Celery Farm, Allendale, NJ

From Rt 17 North: Exit at Allendale (West). Go west on East Allendale Road for one mile to Franklin Turnpike. Turn right and go about 0.2 miles to a small parking lot on the right. Parking area is between Pittis Avenue and Alison court (on the right). Small and hard to spot.

Cheesequake State Park, NJ, Hook Creek Lake Parking Area

Cheesequake State  Park is accessible from Exit 120 off the Garden State Parkway and from Route 34.

From the GSP: Make a right at the end of the exit ramp and follow to the first light. Make a right. At next light make a right and follow road into the park.

From Route 34 South: Make a left turn onto Disbrow Road which is the light immediately south of the Marketplace shopping plaza. Make a right at the end of Disbrow Rd. Make a left at the first light and follow into the Park.

From Route 34 North: Make a right turn onto Disbrow Road which is the light immediately north of the Berg Animal Hospital. Make a right at the end of Disbrow Rd. Make a left at the first light and follow into the Park. State Park signs are posted at critical intersections along these routes.

Chester Mall, Chester, NJ

Rt 287 South: Exit 22 Bedminster/Pluckemin. Follow Rt 206 north until you get into Chester. Turn left onto W. Main St (Rt 513 South). The entrance to the Chester Mall is on your left, in about 0.1 mile.

Rt 78 to Rt 287 North: Exit 22B. Follow Rt 206 north until you get into Chester. Turn left onto W. Main St (Exit 513 South). The entrance to the Chester Mall is on your left, in about 0.1 mile.

Rt 80: Exit 27A to Route 206 South. Follow Rt 206 south for about ~8 miles. Turn right onto W. Main St (Rt 513 South). The entrance to the Chester Mall is on your left, in about 0.1 mile.

Clinton Staging Area - 66 Overlook Drive, Clinton, NJ

From the East: Take I-78 West to Exit 15. At the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight through the light. This will put the gas stations on your right.

From the South: Take Route 31 North to I-78 west to Exit 15.  At the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight through the light. This will put the gas stations on your right.

From the North: Take I-287 south to I-78 west to exit 15. At the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight through the light. This will put the gas stations on your right.

From the West: Take I-78 East to Exit 15. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right at the light. Turn left at the next light. This will put the gas stations on your right.

In about 1/2 mile, you will see DeMott pond on your right. Immediately after the pond, turn right onto Village Road. * (missed the turn, see below) After the 3rd  set of speed bumps, turn right onto Overlook Drive. Overlook Drive is a big lollipop with a short stick. You just turned onto the stick. Follow the loop of the lollipop, ignoring the crossroads, to the top of the loop. Go down the dip and find #66.

* What to do if you miss the right turn onto Village Road: The fix for this boo-boo is very easy. Go up the ramp that you are headed on, but do not move to the left to get onto I-78. Instead, follow the ramp as it turns to the right to exit from I-78 onto Route 173. Bear to the right, stop at the stop sign, follow Bank Street (see the bank on the left?) up the hill, and before the next stop sign, turn right onto Village Road. After the first set of speed bumps, turn left onto Overlook Drive. Overlook Drive is a big lollipop with a short stick. You just turned onto the stick. Follow the loop of the lollipop, ignoring the crossroads, to the top of the loop. Go down the dip and find #66.

Colonial Park, Somerset, NJ

287 S to Exit 12 - Weston Canal Road toward Manville/S. Bound Brook for .06 mi. Turn left onto Weston Canal Road (signs for Manville/Zarephath) for .09 mi. Turn left onto Randolph Road for 1.2 mi. Turn right onto School House Road for 0.4 mi. Turn left onto Mettlers Road for 1.3 mi. Turn right into Colonial Park Lot F. Park at end of parking lot.

Columbia Trail -- The Coffee Potter, 24 Schooleys Mt Rd, Long Valley, NJ 07853

FROM THE NORTH: From Interstate 80W, take Exit 26 to merge into US-46 toward Budd Lake/Hackettstown. From bottom of ramp onto Rt 46, go 4.7 miles to Naughtright Rd. Turn left onto Naughtright Road for 3.2 miles. Turn right onto E. Springtown Rd. Go 0,7 miles and bear left at fork onto Camp Washington Rd. Go 0.06 miles to end and turn left on Rte 24/Schooleys Mountain Rd. Go 0.06 miles - Coffee Potter will be on the left. Park across the street at Columbia Trailhead parking lot.
FROM THE SOUTH: From center of Chester/Main Street, at intersections/junction of Rt 206 and 513, go towards Long Valley on 513W for 4.3 miles. Right on Rt 24/Schooleys Mt Rd for 0.02 miles. The Coffee Potter is on left. Park across the street at Columbia Trailhead parking lot.

Columbia Trail, High Bridge, NJ        Public Parking Area

From Interstate 78, go north on Route 31. After the car dealership, before the second traffic light, turn right onto Route 513. Follow Route 513 as it goes into High Bridge, goes under the train tracks, and bends to the left. As the hill rises, see the sign indicating a bike crossing. Turn left into the public parking area. This parking area includes a port-o-john that is usually well maintained.

Commons Park (Municipal Parking Lot), 79 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ 08829

From I-287, take 78W to Exit 17 (westbound)or Exit 16 (eastbound) for Route 31N towards Washington, NJ. Drive about 2 miles, then turn right on Main Street/Rt 513N (2nd traffic light). In 1.1 miles, turn right on Bridge street, proceed ~400 feet, then turn left onto Main street. Continue for 0.2 miles through town, then turn left at The Commons sign to the parking lot. If you pass Church Street, you missed the entrance to the parking lot. Main Street dead ends in another block so you can turn around and approach from the other direction.

Cooper Mill County Park, Chester NJ    Parking Lot

GPS address: 66 State Route 24, Chester, NJ 07930

Rt 287 South: exit 22 Bedminster/Pluckemin. Follow Rt 206 north until you get into Chester. Turn left onto Rt 513/24 west. Cooper Mill is approx 1.5 miles on the left.

Rt 78 to Rt 287 North: exit 22B. Follow Rt 206 north until you get into Chester. Turn left onto Rt 513/24 west. Cooper Mill is approx 1.5 miles on the left.

Rt 80: exit 27 Route 206 South. Follow Rt 206 south for about 7-8 miles. Turn right onto Rt 513/24 west. Cooper Mill is approx 1.5 miles on the left.

Cornish Estate, Cold Spring, NY

Use your GPS to gt directions to the Palisades Interstate Parkway from your location. Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway north and follow signs to Bear Mountain. At the end of the Parkway, enter the roundabout and go over the Bear Mountain Bridge (toll). Immediately after the Bridge, make left onto Route 9D north. Go approximately 10 miles. Parking lot is called Washburn Trailhead (large green sign) on the right approximately 1/2 mile after light at the center of Cold Spring.

Croton Gorge Park, Croton-On-Hudson, NY

I-287 N: Cross the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge (old Tappan Zee Bridge) stay in the right lane to take Exit 9 for US-9 Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow. Continue on US-9N for about 13 miles. Take NY-9A exit toward NY-129. Turn right onto NY-9A N/ Municipal Pl. and at the second light turn left onto Maple St. Continue onto NY-128E/Grand St for ~1.3 miles the Croton Gorge Park is on the right.

Culver's Gap, NJ        Appalachian Trail Parking Lot just off Rt 206 on Rt 636

Stokes State Forest - US 206 North or South to Culver's Gap. Turn North on to County Route 636 (Upper North Shore Rd), just north of Culver's Lake, for 0.2 miles and at the Y go left. Turn immediately left into the Appalachian Trail parking lot.

CVS Shopping Center Parking Lot, Greenwood Lake, NY

I-287, Exit 57, Skyline Drive, Ringwood, NJ either direction.

Southbound:  bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.

Northbound: make left at end of ramp.  Go through stop light and under overpass.  You will then be on Skyline Drive.  Go about 5 miles over Ramapo Mountain to town of Ringwood.  Go through stop sign to the  “T” intersection  with Rt. 511, turn right and **continue on Rt 511 North (Greenwood Lake Tpk) about 1.3 miles, then take right fork, following Rt 511 North. Make another right turn on Lakeside Avenue (at the Exxon station) following signs to Greenwood Lake (This road becomes Rt. 210 when you cross the NJ/ NY border.) Follow the shoreline of Greenwood Lake about six miles - there will be a bend in the road at a traffic light. In another 1/2 mile, you will see the CVS parking lot on your left. Greenwood Lake Post Office is next door.  

 Rt. 17 N or S:   Take Ringwood/West Milford Exit—about 1 mile North of the Rt. 87 Exit 15A, and just South of the town of Sloatsburg.  Stay on this road (Sterling Mine/Sloatsburg Rd.) about  7 miles to the  “T” intersection with Rt 511.  Turn right, continue as above.**

D&R Canal, Griggstown Rentals, Griggstown, NJ - Dock

From the South:  Rt. 1 North.  Turn left at New Rd. ***Cross over Rt. 27. (Turns into Bunker Hill Rd. at Rt. 27 intersection).  Follow Bunker Hill Rd. to the end. Turn left. Approximately ½ mile on left hand side is Griggstown Rentals. Look for the dock.

From the North: Rt. 1 South. Turn right at New Rd. ***Same as above.

Deckertown Turnpike, NJ parking lot

Take 23N towards Sussex, NJ. After going through Sussex, turn left onto Rt 650 (Liberty Road). Cross Rt 519, continue straight. This becomes Deckertown Turnpike. The parking lot is on the right hand side of the road between markers 8 and 7.

Delaware Canal Path - Frenchtown Canal Path parking lot

GPS: 8 Bridge St, Frenchtown, NJ 08825

Take Route 202 or Route 31 to the traffic circle in Flemington, NJ. Enter the traffic circle and take the exit for Route 12. Take route 12 West to Frenchtown (about 11.5 miles). At the T-intersection (flashing red light), turn left to follow Route 12 as it becomes Bridge St. Follow Bridge St/Route 12 toward the Delaware River. Immediately before the bridge, turn left into the parking lot.

Delaware Canal, South of New Hope, PA

From 287 South: Take Exit 17 onto US 202/US206 South toward US22 W/Somerville/Flemington. Continue for 15 miles. Take roundabout to 3rd Exit to continue on US202 South for about 6.4 miles. Take ramp to Rt 179 South on right toward Lambertville. Turn right on Hwy 179 South for about 5.5 miles. Turn right onto Bridge St - crossing the Delaware River Bridge entering PA. Turn left onto PA-32 S/River Rd. Continue 2.3 miles. Turn left at Aquetong Rd. After 0.2 miles, turn right to parking area.

Delaware River Paddle, Pt. Pleasant, PA

Rt. 78 West to Exit 15, Clinton.  Turn on to Rt. 513 South to Frenchtown.  Cross over the Delaware River Bridge into Pennsylvania.  Turn left onto Rt. 525.and go approximately 7 miles to Pt. Pleasant.  Turn left on Byram Rd.  Follow signs to Bucks County River Country.  Meet by the Rental Concession. 

Delaware Water Gap     Coppermine Trail

Take I-80 West to the Delaware Water Gap.  Get off at Exit 1, the last exit in New Jersey (just before the bridge over the Delaware River that leads to Pennsylvania), and head north along the Delaware River on River Road (also known as Old Mine Road). The road is only one lane wide for about half a mile, and a traffic light has been installed to regulate the two-way traffic. Continue for 7.5 miles to the Coppermine Parking Area on the left side of the road. Park here.

Delaware Water Gap     Dunnfield Creek Parking Lot

Take I-80 westbound to the Delaware Water Gap. Continue about 3 miles past Exits 4A/B/C. Stay in the right lane and take the exit on the right indicating Dunnfield Creek. Turn right into the second parking area.

If you miss the exit for Dunnfield Creek ... Stay in the right lane, and continue 1 mile farther on Interstate 80 to NJ Exit 1 "Millbrook/Flatbrookville." Turn hard left at the end of the exit ramp, and continue 3/4 back eastward along the service road, passing Kittatinny Point, and turn left at the underpass. Turn left again on a ramp that re-enters Interstate 80 westbound, but turn right from the ramp before it re-enters Interstate 80 into Dunnfield Parking Area (part of Worthington State Forest).

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, NJ  Parking Lot

Take I-80 West to Exit 1.  (Do not go over the toll bridge. If you reach the toll, you've gone too far.) Go down the ramp to the end of road.  The Delaware River will be in front of you; you will be at a T.  Make a left and follow the access road around to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Dismal Harmony Natural Area, NJ

Take I-287 South to Exit 36 (County Route 510/Morris Avenue). Continue ahead past the first traffic light, proceed past the Morristown railroad station, then turn right onto Morris Street. At the next intersection, bear left, then turn right onto East Park Place, passing the Morristown Green on the left. Turn left at the following intersection onto North Park Place, then turn right onto Washington Street. (In each case, follow signs for County Route 510 West). In 4.0 miles, after passing a pedestrian crossing with a blinking light, turn right onto Tingley Road. In 0.7 mile, turn left onto East Main Street and proceed for 0.2 mile to the parking area for Dismal Harmony Natural Area, on the right.

Duck Pond, Mohonk Preserve, New Paltz, NY      Lenape Lane parking

From NJ: Take I-287, or NJ 17 to the New York State Thruway Northbound (I-87). Stay on I-87 for approx. 45 miles to Exit 18 (New Paltz). After toll, go to traffic light and turn left onto Main St/NY 299W. Go 2.9 miles, and take slight right at Gatehouse Road. Go 243 feet and take slight left at Mohonk Private Road. Go 0.7 miles and continue on Lenape Lane for 1.7 miles.

Dunker Mountain   Meet at intersection of Rt 23 & Cannistear Road in Stockholm, NJ

From Route 23 heading northbound: Take Route 23 north into the Stockholm area. At the corner of Cannistear Road you will see a parking space on the near side before the light. We will meet there.

From Route 23 heading southbound: Take Route 23 south toward Stockholm. At the corner of Cannistear Road you will need to go to the next jug handle turn and head back north bound. The parking lot is at the corner of Cannistear and Route 23 just before the traffic light.

Westbound - take EXIT 75 and make a LEFT at the end of the ramp.
Eastbound - take EXIT 75 and make a RIGHT at the end of the ramp.

Make your first RIGHT on to INDUSTRIAL DRIVE. Follow Industrial Drive to the stop sign. Make a RIGHT on to MORVALE ROAD. To the next stop sign and make a RIGHT (you will go under the interstate overpass) and make your first LEFT on to ISLAND PARK ROAD.

Drive past ASHLAND CHEMICAL. This road will wind around for a few miles. Proceed up the hill (the SPCA ANIMAL SHELTER will be on your left). At the top of the hill take the right fork on to REDDINGTON ROAD; it has a NO OUTLET sign. Continue on this road, down the hill until you see the railroad tracks. Make a HARD RIGHT TURN and follow EAST REDDINGTON ROAD to the club property at the dead end

Fahnestock State Park

From the east end of the Bear Mountain Bridge, proceed north on NY Route 9D for 8 miles to Peekskill Road at the southern end of Cold Spring (just beyond the Boscobel Restoration). Turn right and follow Peeksill Road for 0.5 mile to its terminus at a junction with NY Route 301. Then turn right and follow Route 301 for 4.6 miles to its intersection with Dennytown Road. Turn right onto Dennytown Road and continue for 1.2 miles to a large dirt parking area on the left side of the road.

Flatbrookville/Blue Mountain Road parking area

Rt 80 to Rt 94N. Turn left onto Millbrook-Blairstown Road (County Route 602). Go over and down the west side of the Kittany Ridge. Turn right at Millbrook Village onto Old Mine Road. Turn right on Flatbrookville Road (Blue Mountain Road/County Route 624). Follow to dead end to barricade.

Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, Van Nostrand Ave, Englewood, NJ

From the West: Take I-80 East until merging onto I-95 North. Take Exit 71 - Broad Avenue, Leonia/Englewood. Proceed North (right) on Broad Avenue to second traffic light at Van Nostrand Avenue. Turn right and continue up Van Nostrand Ave for a ¼ mile until arriving at the Nature Center entrance at the end of the street.
From the South: Take the New Jersey Turnpike North (I- 95 North) toward the George Washington Bridge, using local lanes. Take Exit 71 - Broad Avenue, Leonia/Englewood. Proceed North (right) on Broad Avenue to second traffic light at Van Nostrand Avenue. Turn right and continue up Van Nostrand Ave for a ¼ mile until arriving at the Nature Center entrance at the end of the street.
From the North: Take Palisades Parkway or Route 9W to Exit 1, Palisade Avenue, Englewood. Turn right, continue to the Jones Road intersection and make a left turn. Continue to the second four-way stop and make a left turn onto Van Nostrand Avenue and proceed up the hill to the Nature Center entrance at the end of the street.

Foodtown Parking Lot, Cold Spring, NY

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP) north all the way to the end.  The PIP will turn into Perkins Memorial Drive.  Continue on this until the traffic circle by the Bear Mountain Bridge.  Go ½ around the circle and over the Bear Mountain Bridge.  At the end of the bridge, turn left onto Route 9D.  Take Route 9D approximately 8.4 miles into the town of Cold Spring.  The Foodtown parking lot will be on your left hand side.

Fort Montgomery Park, Bear Mountain    Parking Lot

Palisades Parkway North to Route 6. Follow signs to the Bear Mountain Bridge. Go around the circle leading to the bridge. DO NOT go over the Bear Mountain bridge. Follow the circle around to Route 9W North. Go north on 9W. You will pass Fort Montgomery Park on the right. Just beyond that, there is a parking lot on the right.

Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve, NJ

Take Route 208 north to the Ewing Ave., exit in Franklin Lakes. Turn left at the end of the ramp (if coming south, turn right) and continue for about 2 miles until Ewing Ave. ends at High Mountain Rd. Turn left onto High Mountain Rd. and continue past a lake and a smaller pond on the left. In ½ mile, at the end of the smaller pond, you will see a small brown sign for the Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve on the left. Turn left into a driveway, passing old reservoir buildings on the right, drive across the dam of the Lower Pond, then turn left again at a sign for parking and continue to a parking area just below the dam of the Upper Lake.

Take Rt. 80 to Exit 57A. Proceed south on NJ 19 and take first exit (Valley Road). Turn right at top of ramp. Camp Glen Gray, Mahwah, NJ

From I-287 South, take Exit 58 for Route 202 North (RamapoValley Road), Oakland. At end of exit ramp, (light) turn right onto Rt. 202 North. **Take Rt. 202 North 1.9 miles to Glen Gray Road (see Glen Gray sign opposite road on right). Turn left on to Glen Gray Road and go over the steel bridge. Turn right on to Midvale Mountain Road. Take this road for 0.6 miles to the camp entrance. At the end of the road there is a caretaker's house on the left, then a camp cabin on your right. Park in the lot just beyond the camp cabin.

From I-287 North, take Exit 58. At end of exit ramp, turn left for 0.2 miles to next light (keep left). Turn left at this light on to Rt. 202 North. Follow as above.**

Goldberg’s Bagels, Ringwood Commons, Skyline Drive, Ringwood, NJ

I-287 Exit 57 either direction.  Southbound: bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive. 

Northbound: make left at end of ramp. Go through stop light and under overpass. You will then be on Skyline Drive. Go about 5 miles over Ramapo Mountain to Ringwood.  Follow Park ’n ’Ride signs.  Turn left on Cannici Drive to enter Ringwood Commons.  If you reach a stop sign on Skyline Drive (at Erskine Road), you’ve gone too far!  Meet inside Goldberg’s Bagels.

Granite Mountain Preserve, Putnam Valley, NY

The "Welcome to Granite Mountain Preserve" sign is located opposite Jeanne Drive and across the street from 500 Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley. Be sure to input "Granite Mountain Preserve" into Google Maps (just "Granite Mountain will lead you to the wrong location). The new access area and parking lot is located inside the main gate.

Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, Morris County, NJ

I-287 to Exit 30A. Merge onto N Maple Ave toward Basking Ridge. After about 1 mile, turn left at the traffic light onto Madisonville Road. In 0.5 miles continue on to Lees Hill Road for about 0.5 miles. Turn right onto the Refuge entrance road (Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge sign). The Visitor center will be on the right (~0.5 miles).

Greenbrook Sanctuary, Tenafly, NJ

The entrance is off U.S. Route 9W, 4.7 miles north of the George Washington Bridge. The entrance drive is a well-marked east turn from U.S. Route 9W in Tenafly, 0.8 miles north of East Clinton Avenue and 0.5 miles south of the Tenafly–Alpine border. (Cars and motorcycles traveling on the Palisades Interstate Parkway can take Exit 1 in Englewood Cliffs to 9W and go north about 2.5 mi., or Exit 2 in Alpine to 9W and south about 2.5 mi.)

Take I-287 to Exit of the NK57 and continue on Skyline Drive to its western end at Greenwood Lake Turnpike (County Route 511) in Ringwood. Turn right and proceed for 8.1 miles to an intesection with Lakeside Road. Turn right and follow Lakeside Road (still designated County Route 511) for 2.4 miles to the Greenwood Lake Marina, just south of the NJ-NY boundary. Turn left and park onf the left side of the dir access road, west of Lakeside Road (only limited parking is available). Do NOT, under any circumstances, park on the private property of the Greenwood Lake Marina, on the east side of Lakeside Road.

From the South: Route 1 North. Turn left at New Road. ***Cross over Route 27. Road name changes to Bunker Hill Road at Route 27 Intersection. Follow Bunker Hill Road to the end. Turn left. Approximately ½  mile turn right (see canoe rental at this intersection). Take the bridge over the canal and tow path to the parking lot on the left. If this lot is full, go ¼ mile to the next lot on the left and walk back.

Exit 17 on the Palisades Interstate Parkway - this IS Anthony Wayne Recreation Area. (This is 15 miles North of NY Thruway Exit 13N (PIP North), and 1/2 mile North of the Harriman Park Information Center in the center island of PIP, and 4 miles South of Bear Mountain. ) Meet in the first parking lot. From Bergen County allow 30 to 40 minutes.

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway to Exit 13 (US 202/Haverstraw/Suffern). Turn right at the bottom of the ramp, then turn right again onto US 202 West and continue for 1.7 miles to a junction with NY 306. Turn right onto Old Route 306, then right again at the next stop sign. In 0.2 mile, turn left onto Mountain Road; then, in another 0.2 mile, turn left again onto Diltzes Lane. I-87 North, Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17: turn left at end of ramp. You will be on Route 17 North. Take this road about 13 miles to the Arden Valley Road entrance to Harriman State Park on the right. Turn right and proceed 1/2 mile to parking area on right.
From NYS Thruway Exit 16: Proceed south on Rt 17 approximately 4 miles. Look for road to the left with Appalachian Trail crossing sign.

Harriman St Pk, NY - Elk Pen Parking via Arden Valley Rd

I-87 North, Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17: turn left at end of ramp. You will be on Route 17 North. Take this road to Seven Lakes Drive to Lake Tiorati ranger station circle. Do ¾ the way around the circle (or 3rd left) onto Arden Valley Road (there may be a “road closed” sign but if it’s not across the entire road OK to go around) Go 4.7 miles along a windy road to Elk Pen Parking Lot

From Palisades Interstate take Seven Lakes Drive to Lake Tiorati ranger station circle. Make first right onto Arden Valley Road 16 (there may be a “road closed” sign but if it’s not across the entire road OK to go around). Go 4.7 miles along a windy road to Elk Pen Parking Lot

Harriman St Pk, NY        Equestrian Center

Take N.J. Route 17 north to the New York State Thruway and take the first exit, Exit 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto Route 59 east and follow it for 1.6 miles to the first traffic light in the village of Suffern. Turn left at the light onto U.S. Route 202 north, follow it for 5.4 miles, then turn left into the Town of Ramapo Equestrian Center. Do not cross the small bridge. Park on the right side of the road before the bridge.

Harriman State Park, NY        Gate Hill parking area

From Rte 17: Go north to NY State Thruway: Take first exit, 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn left at traffic light at bottom of ramp onto NY RT 17 N and continue through village of Sloatsburg. Just past village, turn right at traffic light into Harriman State Park on Seven Lakes Drive. Stay on Seven Lakes Drive, past the exit sign for Lake Welch/Rte 106. A few miles past this sign is Kanawauke Circle. Make the first right off the circle and onto Kanawauke Rd/County Rte 106 (Gate Hill Rd). Follow this road past Lake Welch and 3 miles later the parking area for Gate Hill is on your right. The spaces are a pulloff along the road (there is no sign).

From Palisades Interstate Parkway. Take Exit 14 for Willow Grove Rd. Turn left at end of ramp onto Willow Grove Rd/County Rte98 (Gate Hill Rd). Drive about 1.5 miles and parking lot will be on the left just shortly before a “Welcome to Harriman” sign.

Palisades Interstate Parkway:   Exit  14 West on Willow Grove which becomes Gate Hill Road, which becomes Kanawauke Road.  At the Kanawauke Circle, go ¼ way around and go north on Seven Lakes Drive.  Lake Skannatati parking area is less than a mile on the left.

Harriman State Park, NY       Route 6 Hikers Parking, West of Long Mountain Circle

Route 6 Hikers Parking, also known as Long Path Parking (small brown parking sign) and Turkey Hill Pond Parking, is located on Route 6 between Route 17/NY Thruway at Harriman/Woodbury NY and the Palisades Interstate Parkway near Bear Mountain NY. Allow 30 – 40 minutes from Spring Valley NY, junction of GSP and Thruway, or from Suffern NY, junction of 287 and Thruway.

Access from the Palisades Interstate Parkway Exit 18 at Long Mountain Circle: From GS Parkway take Thruway towards TZ Bridge to Exit 13 N .  Once on PIP take Exit 18. Take 2nd right around circle for Route 6.  Parking lot is on the right at the top of the long one-mile hill. *** Note small brown trail parking sign.  Parking lot is a horseshoe drive.  Meet half way round near historical Long Path sign.

Access from NY Thruway at Harriman/Woodbury: Take Thruway Exit 16 and carefully follow signs for Route 6 east (Long Mountain Parkway) towards Bear Mountain.  Parking Lot is on left on top of the mountain about 5- 6 miles from exit16.  Follow from *** above.

Harriman State Park, NY         (County) Route 106 (Kanawauke Road) Commuter Parking Lot

From the West: I-87 North to Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17N. At the end of the exit ramp turn left on to Route 17N. Stay 7.4 miles on 17N through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo Park to the intersection of 17A (at a traffic light). Turn slight left to take the Route 17A ramp. Go the short distance up the ramp and at the end of the exit ramp, go straight ahead. The parking lot entrance is ofn the left. We will carpool to the parking area on 106 from there.

Harriman State Park, NY             (County) Route 106 (Kanawauke Road)

There are 5 parking areas on Route 106 between Route 17 North and Seven Lakes Drive. We will number them going from West to East. 

From the West: I-87 North to Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17N. At the end of the exit ramp turn left on to Route 17N. Stay 7.4 miles on 17N through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo Park to the intersection of 17A (at a traffic light). Turn slight left to take the Route 17A ramp. Go the short distance up the ramp and turn right onto Route 106 into Harriman State Park. The FIRST parking area is a short distance on the left. Follow this road past Lake Stahahe (on your left) and continue around the turn to the SECOND parking lot (this one on the right hand side of the road (2.4 miles from where you got onto Rt 106). The THIRD lot is up the road on the left near the Victory Trailhead. The FOURTH (N41o 13.666' W74o 08.909') a bit further, also on the left, at a point where the Ramapo-Dunderberg (red) Trail crosses the road. There are actually two parking areas here, one next to the other. The FIFTH lot is at the Picnic Area by Lake Kanawauke, a short distance from the Lake Kanawauke traffic circle.

Note: Do NOT use GPS for this location - it will take you to a totally different area.

Harriman State Park, NY         (County) Route 106 (Kanawauke Road) Commuter Parking Lot

From the West: I-87 North to Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17N. At the end of the exit ramp turn left on to Route 17N. Stay 7.4 miles on 17N through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo Park to the intersection of 17A (at a traffic light). Turn slight left to take the Route 17A ramp. Go the short distance up the ramp and at the end of the exit ramp, go straight ahead. The parking lot entrance is on the left. We will carpool to the parking area on 106 from there.

Harriman State Park, NY             Seven Lakes Drive Parking

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway north to Exit 19. Continue for 0.5 mile on Seven Lakes Drive, then turn right onto an unmarked road that leads in a short distance to a parking area. (This is the first right turn you come to on Seven Lakes Drive.)

Harriman State Park, NY             Silvermine Picnic Area

From Palisades Interstate Parkway: Take Exit 18 on the left for Seven Lakes Drive/US-6/Central Valley. At the traffic circle take the 3rd exit onto Seven Lakes Drive. In about 1.5 miles entrance is on your left.

From Route 17: Go on Seven Lakes Drive for about 15 miles (2.2 miles past Tiorati Circle). Entrance is on your right.

Harriman State Park, NY           Reeves Visitor Center, Seven Lakes Drive

Route 17 North through Sloatsburg, NY. Turn right into Harriman State Park on Seven Lakes Drive. Go about 1.5 miles until you see a small building and parking lot on your right with the sign "Reeves Meadow Visitors Center". You can park in that lot or the lot across the street or anywhere along the northbound side of Seven Lakes Drive. (Be sure your car is within the white line).

Hartshorne Woods Park - Rocky Point     1402 Portland Rd, Highlands, NJ 07732

Garden State Parkway South to Exit 117. Take exit 117 toward NJ-36. (NOT NJ-35. Keep left to continue on NJ-36, follow signs for Keyport/Keansburg/Sandy Hook. Continue straight onto NJ-36 S and drive south on NJ-36 S for 13.5 miles. Turn RIGHT onto Portland Road (“Off the Hook” Restaurant on the right). (This RIGHT turn is just before the Sandy Hook Bridge. If you go over the river, you have missed the turn.) Follow Portland Rd to the end (1 mile). (Don’t turn Right to the Henry Hudson High School). Parking Lot is straight ahead past the Hartshorne Woods Park sign.

Hewitt-Butler Trail Parking

Take Skyline Drive to its northwestern terminus at Greenwood Lake Turnpike (County Route 511). Turn right and continue for 5.3 miles, crossing a causeway over the Monksville Reservoir and passing the historic buildings of the Long Pond Ironworks to the right. Park in a large parking area on the left (south) side of Greenwood Lake Turnpike, opposite East Shore Drive.

Hibernia Diner, Hibernia, NJ

Location:  Route 513, just off I-80, Exit 37 – Hibernia/Rockaway, either direction, about 5 miles west of I-287.  After exiting I-80, turn north on Route 513.  Diner is on your left.  Meet in the back non-smoking room early for breakfast or outside in the back at the meeting time.

Highlands Preserve, NJ

I-287 North: Take Exit 55 to Rt. 511N. Pass through town of Wanaque and entrance to the Wanaque Reservoir. Continue on 511 past Skyline Drive, Stonetown Road and Dam. Go over Monksville Reservoir and pass Long Pond Iron Works State Park. The next landmark is Awosting Road, clearly marked. Just before sign for Greenwood Airport, bear right onto Greenwood Lake Road. Follow this road past some marinas and lake shores. Shortly thereafter, you will see a shopping center on the left. Pass this and bear right at the Y intersection. In a short distance you’ll see entrance to Highland’s Preserve on the right.

High Mountain - William Paterson University Parking Lot, Wayne, NJ

I-287 North to Exit 59 to Rt. 208 South to High Mountain Road. Continue at ** below.
Traveling North on Rt. 208 take the Colonial Road/Franklin Lakes exit. Turn left at the end of the ramp on Colonial Road then the next left onto High Mt. Road. Continue at ** below.
**Continue along High Mt. Road through the stop sign and circle to the fork (about 3 miles). Take the RIGHT fork onto Belmont. Stay on Belmont to the first traffic light. Go right and through the WPU gate (entry 6) a short distance up the road. At the “T“ intersection go right and continue toward Lot 6. Just after Lot 6, on the right, is a new parking area for High Mountain trails. Do not park in Lot 6.

High Point State Park, Sussex, NJ - Steenykill Boat Launch

Meet in the parking lot south of High Point Ranger Station (big brown building) on Rt 23 on the left heading north on Rt 23. The drive for the lot is easy to miss; it’s right after a maintenance facility and if you get to the Ranger Station, you've passed it.

High Tor State Park, NY - Central Highway parking lot

Take Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP) North to Exit 13 for US-202 toward Haverstraw/Suffern. Merge on Thiells Mt Ivy Rd. Turn left at the light. You will be on Rt 202. In 2.1 miles, turn right on County Road 33 (Central Highway). In one mile, parking will be on your left.

Hillside Park, Andover, NJ

1-80 West to US-206N in Mount Olive Twp. Take Exit 25 from I-80 W. Follow US-206 N (~6.6 miles) to Andover, NJ, turn right onto Limecrest Road at Exxon Gas Station, follow for about 2.7 miles, turn left onto Lake Lliff Road at Andover Twp FIre House, follow Lake Lliff Road for about 500 ft and turn left into the parking area after the 1-lane bridge.

Hook Creek Lake Parking Lot, Cheesequake State Park, NJ

Garden State Parkway to Exit 120.  Follow the brown park signs to Cheesequake State Park.  Once inside the park, follow the signs to the Hook Creek Lake parking area.

Hook Mt, Palmer Drive, Nyack, NY

Take 287/87 East to Exit 11 (Nyack/Rt 59). Make left at light at end of ramp onto Rt 59E. Stay in left lane and make a left at next light onto North Highland Ave/Rt 9W N. Go a little over 1 mile and make right onto Christian Herald Dr. At bottom of hill at the “Y” make sharp left onto North Midland Ave. Travel ½ mile, make left onto Kuyper Drive. Kuyper ends at Palmer Drive, park on right side of street when facing the woods at the end of Palmer Drive

Horse Pond Mt: Long Pond Ironwork Historic Museum, Ringwood, NJ

I-287 N/S: Exit 57: Skyline Drive, Ringwood, NJ either direction.
Southbound: bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.
Northbound: make left at end of ramp. Go through stop light and under overpass. You will then be on Skyline Drive.
Go about 5 miles over Ramapo Mountain to town of Ringwood. Make a right onto Rt. 511, and go 5 miles to the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District museum on the right.

I-87 N: Exit 15A toward NY-17N: From NY-17N take the exit toward Sterling Mine Rd/ Sloatsburg Rd. Stay on this road (Sterling Mine Rd./Sloatsburg Rd./Mine Pond Rd.) about 5 miles. Turn right onto Margaret King Ave until you reach the “T” intersection with Rt 511 – Greenwood Lake Turnpike (Gas station on your right). Turn right and go 1 mile to the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District museum on the right.

Horseshoe Lake - Roxbury Twp, NJ

I-80 W: Exit 30 - Howard Blvd. Keep left at the light and follow signs for Howard Blvd/Roxbury. Stay on Howard Blvd (~0.5 miles) and continue onto Commerce Blvd (~0.5 miles). Turn right onto Main St and left onto NJ-10 E. After about 1 mile turn right onto Eyland Ave. *The Horseshoe Lake will be on your left in about 0.5 miles.

I-80 E: Exit 28 toward US-46 E/NJ 10 Ledgewood/ Lk Hopatcong. Merge onto Landing Rd. Slight left onto US-46 E. Continue straight onto NJ-10 E for about 1.4 miles. Turn right onto Eyland Ave. Follow above*.

Hubbard Lodge, 2920 US-9, Cold Spring, NY 10516

Your best route from NJ to Bear Mountain Bridge, cross the bridge and proceed north on N.Y. Route 9D for 8.0 miles to Peekskill Road at the southern end of Cold Spring (just beyond the Boscobel Restoration). Turn right and follow Peekskill Road for 0.5 mile to its terminus at a junction with N.Y. Route 301, then turn right and follow Route 301 for 2.0 miles to its intersection with U.S. Route 9. Turn left onto Route 9 and proceed north for 0.2 mile, then turn right onto a paved road at a brown sign for the "Hubbard Lodge." Bear left at the fork, continue past a house on the left, and park along the right side of the road.

Huckleberry Ridge State Forest: Port Jervis, NY

I-287 N/S: Exit 52 A-B toward Butler. Follow NJ-23 N for about ~30 miles to US-6 E Port Jervis in Orange County, NY. Turn right onto US-6 E for about 1.5 miles. The parking area is on your left.

Jockey Hollow National Park, Morristown, NJ - Parking Lot by the Visitor Center,

GPS: 586 Tempe Wick Rd, Morristown, NJ 07960

I-287 South to Exit 30B (Bernardsville).  Turn right at the end of the ramp on to Route 202.  At the next light (about 1.7 miles) turn left on to Tempe Wick Road.  The park entrance is about 1.4 miles on the right.

Jonathan's Woods - 128 Ford Road, Denville, NJ

From I-80 W, take exit 37 toward NJ-513/Hibernia/Rockaway. Turn right onto Green Pond Rd, left onto Morris Ave, left onto Ford Road. Continue on Ford Road until it ends at Jonathan Woods (wooden barrier). There is limited parking here for ~6 cars. Carpooling is recommended.

Kakiat County Park, NY         Parking Lot

From Rte 17: Take the exit for Rte 202 toward Suffern. At bottom of ramp, turn right onto Ramapo Valley Rd/US-202. After 0.8 miles, turn left onto Franklin Turnpike/US Rte 202. After 0.7 miles, as you pass the Suffern train station on your left, turn right at traffic light onto Wayne Avenue/Rte 202. Kakiat County Park is about 3 miles north on Rte 202 on your left (entrance is directly across from the Viola School – note sign).

From Palisades Interstate Parkway North: Take Exit 13. Merge right onto Theills Mount Ivy Rd. Turn right onto Rte 202. Kakiat County Park is about 5 miles south on your right (entrance is directly across the Viola School – not sign).

From Palisades Interstate Parkway South: Take Exit 13. Turn right on route 202. Kakiat County Park is about 5 miles south on your right (entrance is directly across the Viola School – note sign).

Kay Environmental Center, Chester, NJ Parking Area

From I-287 Southbound:  Exit 22.  Follow the signs for Rt 206N. Bear left where Rt. 202 and Rt. 206 split to Pottersville Road (on the left). There are two Pottersville Roads. Go through the light at the first Pottersville Road (CR 512) for about 3.4 miles until you come to the second Pottersville Road. Turn Left. The entrance gate is on the right in about 0.9 miles. Follow driveway to the parking area.
From I-287 Northbound:  Exit 22B onto 206N. Follow directions above.
From I-78:   Exit I-287 N to exit 22B onto Rt. 206N. Follow directions above
From I-80:   Exit 27 Rt. 206S to Pottersville Road. Turn Right. The entrance gate is on the right in about 0.9 miles. Follow driveway to the parking area. (note above there are two Pottersville roads).

Kincaid Woods/Pyramid Mt addition

I-287 to US Route 23 North. Continue on 23N for 2.6 miles to the exit for Kinnelon Road/Kiel Road. Following sign for “Kinnelon,” cross Rt.23 and go 5.2 miles on Kinnelon Rd. Turn left onto Kincaid Rd. The parking lot is to your right.

Kittatinny Valley State Park

From I-80, take Exit 25 to Route 206 North. Continue 7 miles on Route 206 North, passing the Exxon on Limecrest Road in Andover, then another mile or so up the road until you see a sign on your right for the Wooden Duck Bed & Breakfast. This is Goodale Road. Turn right at the sign onto Goodale Road and continue on down about a mile until you see the park sign on your right. Pull into the first lot on the left ... or right side.

Lake Lenape Parking Area

I-80 West to the Delaware Water Gap. Continue on I-80 across the river (toll). 1 mile to PA exit 310. Follow around to light make a right at light. Follow signs to 611 South. Follow 611 to light and make left. Go up road about 300 ft. and turn right at Deerhead Inn on Mountain Road. ( A.T. sign) Turn left at fork and park in Lake Lenape Parking Area.

Laurel Hill County Park, Secaucus, NJ Meet at Boat Launch Parking Area

From New Jersey Turnpike EASTERN SPUR: (the most direct Turnpike route): Exit the Turnpike at Exit 15-X (for Secaucus Junction). After the tolls, follow the l-o-n-g ramp (which becomes Seaview Ave.) around the train station to the traffic light at NEW COUNTY ROAD. Turn LEFT, proceed over the bridge and drive straight into Laurel Hill Park. Once inside the park, make the FIRST RIGHT TURN into the Boat Launch Parking Area.
  FYI: To ensure you get on the Eastern Spur when the roadway divides, follow signs for Exits 15E, 16E and 18E if traveling north; or for the Lincoln Tunnel and Exit 17 if traveling south.
  NOTE: If you accidentally get on the Turnpike’s Western Spur, don’t panic; just take Exit 16W, follow signs for Route 3 Eastbound and then follow the directions below.

From Route 3 Eastbound and Points West: As you pass the Meadowlands Sports Complex, get into the right lane. Then as you come over the bridge, take the MEADOWLANDS PARKWAY Exit. At the bottom of the ramp, turn LEFT at the light onto Meadowlands Pkwy. Take Meadowlands Pkwy. through several sets of traffic lights, over a bridge and straight past the Harmon Cove Towers. A short way past the Towers, Meadowlands Pkwy becomes CASTLE ROAD as it bends sharply to the left. Take Castle Rd. until it ends at NEW COUNTY ROAD. Turn RIGHT onto New County; proceed over a bridge and drive straight into Laurel Hill Park. Once in the park, make the FIRST RIGHT TURN into the Boat Launch Parking Area.

Lewis Morris Park     270 Mendham Road, Morristown, NJ

From I-287:

Traveling South: Take Exit 35, Madison Ave. Turn RIGHT and at the light turn RIGHT on to Route 124 West, South Street. Continue straight, travel around the "Green". Turn RIGHT at the light onto Route 510 West/Washington St. Continue on County Route 510 West (Formerly Route 24) passing Delbarton School on your left. The park entrance is just after the second Delbarton entrance on your left.

Traveling North: Take Exit 35, South Street/Madison Ave. Turn LEFT onto Route 124 West, South Street. Follow the directions above from South Street.

From Morristown Green: Turn RIGHT onto Washington St. Travel 3.5 miles west towards Mendham and Chester on County Route 510 West (Formerly Route 24). The Park is located at 270 Mendham Road.

Loantaka Brook Reservation, Morristown, NJ

Take I-287 South to Exit 35 (Madison Avenue) in Morristown. At the top of the ramp, turn right onto Madison Avenue, then turn left at the first traffic light onto South Street. Continue for 1.1 miles, passing the Seaton Hackney Stables on the left, then turn left into the parking area for Loantaka Brook Reservation.

Long Pond Ironworks Historic District Museum, West Milford, NJ

Note:  Car shuttle necessary from meeting place to beginning and end of trail.

Long Pond - Burnt Meadow Road

I-287, Exit 57, Skyline Drive, Ringwood, NJ either direction.

Southbound: bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.

Northbound: make left at end of ramp. Go through stop light and under overpass. You will then be on Skyline Drive. Go about 5 miles over Ramapo Mountain to town of Ringwood. Go through stop sign to the “T” intersection with Rt. 511, turn right and go 5 miles to the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District museum on the right. Continue beyond the museum and turn left onto Burnt Meadow Rd. In about 1/2 mile, parking is on the left side of the road.

Rt. 17 N or S: Take Ringwood/West Milford Exit—about 1 mile North of the Rt. 87 Exit 15A, and just South of the town of Sloatsburg.  Stay on this road (Sterling Mine/Sloatsburg Rd.) about 7 miles to the “T” intersection with Rt 511. Turn right and go 3.3 miles to the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District museum on the right.< Continue beyond the museum and turn left onto Burnt Meadow Road. In about 1/2 mile, parking is on the left side of road.

Lord Stirling Park    Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road, Basking Ridge, NJ

I-287 North to 26A Exit which says Mt. Airy Road/Liberty Corner. Go right off of the exit and you will be on Mt. Airy Road. Make the first, almost immediate left on to Lake Road. Follow Lake Road to the end. At the end, make a left on to Finley Avenue. Make next right onto Collyer Road. Turn right on to Maple Avenue. Follow past the stable, and turn left on to Lord Stirling Road. There is a large green and white sign for the Environmental Education Center on the left by the turn. The Center is one mile down on the left side.

I- 287 South to Exit 30A for North Maple Avenue/Basking Ridge. Follow for 2.8 miles to Lord Stirling Road on your left. Make this left and follow for one mile. The Environmental Education Center will be on your left.

Route 78 West to Exit #36. Turn right off of the exit ramp. Follow King George Road up the hill, and bear to the left at the fork. Follow Stonehouse Road to the end. Make a right on to Finley Avenue. Go under railroad tracks, then turn right on to Cross Road. Go to the end of Cross Road and turn left on to Maple Avenue. Proceed on Maple approximately 1/4 mile. Turn right on to Lord Stirling Road. Center is one mile down on the left side.

Route 78 East to Exit #33, marked Martinsville/Bernardsville. Turn left off of the exit ramp. Follow to Lyons Road and turn right on to Lyons. (6th traffic light from the exit ramp of Rt. 78) Continue on Lyons for 1.8 miles. Go under railroad tracks, then turn right on to Cross Road. Go to the end of Cross Road and turn left on to Maple Avenue. Take your second right on to Lord Stirling Road. The Center will be one mile down on the left side.

Lower Hibernia Road, Hibernia, NJ

I-80 to Exit 37 (Hibernia/Rockaway). Turn onto Route 513 North (Green Pond Road). In about 2.6 miles and immediately before the metal bridge, turn right onto Lower Hibernia Road. Take the immediate left into a small gravel parking lot.

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation / Picnic Area Meeting Place near Milton/Jefferson Twp, NJ     

I-80W to Exit 34B (15 North). Follow Route 15N towards Sparta about 4.5 miles to the Weldon Road Exit. (This exit occurs immediately after the “Lake Shawnee” exit.) Exit on Weldon road and continue straight. Your next turn, into the Picnic Area, occurs after another 4.0 miles. The sign says "Mahlon Dickerson Picnic Area" - and it occurs after the "Trailer" area. Turn left into picnic area and park in the lot at the end of the road.

I-80E to Exit 34 at the end of the exit ramp, turn right toward Jefferson/Dover/Sparta, stay in right lane and follow signs to 15 North. Once on Rt.15N, follow directions as listed above.

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation / Saffins Pond Meeting Place  (near Milton/Jefferson Twp, NJ)     

I-80W to Exit 34B (15 North). Follow Route 15N towards Sparta about 4.5 miles to the Weldon Road Exit. (This exit occurs immediately after the “Lake Shawnee” exit.) Exit on Weldon road and continue straight. Turn right into the Saffins Pond Parking Area after about 3.0 miles. (Note: Saffins Pond occurs AFTER the sign for Saffin Rock Rill - the two places are not the same.)

I-80E to Exit 34 at the end of the exit ramp, turn right toward Jefferson/Dover/Sparta, stay in right lane and follow signs to 15 North. Once on Rt.15N, follow directions as listed above.

I-80W to Exit 34B (Route 15 North/Jefferson/Sparta). Proceed north on Route 15 for about 5 miles, and take the exit for Weldon Road (Milton/Oak Ridge). After about 1 mile on Weldon Road, you'll pass a sign indicating that you have entered Mahlon Dickerson Reservation. In another 1.5 miles, you'll pass the entrance to Saffin Pond on the right. Continue for one mile beyond Saffin Pond, passing an entrance to a camping area on the left. Just beyond, you'll pass another entrance on the right. Turn left at the next park entrance - this one, an entrance to a picnic area on the left - and continue ahead to the parking area. (The entrance to the picnic area is 4.0 miles along Weldon Road from Route 15.)

I-80E to Exit 34 at the end of the exit ramp, turn right toward Jefferson/Dover/Sparta, stay in right lane and follow signs to 15 North. Once on Rt.15N, follow directions as listed above.

Manasquan Reservoir, Howell, NJ    Visitors’ Center

Garden State Parkway to Exit 98, Interstate 195 West. Proceed on I-195 west to Exit 28B, Rt. 9 north-Freehold.  Stay in right lane when entering Rt. 9 north. At first traffic light, turn right on to Georgia Tavern Road. Follow Georgia Tavern Road for 0.3 mile. Turn right on to Windeler Rd. Continue 1.5 miles to the Reservoir Area on left.

State Hwy. 9 south from Freehold to Georgia Tavern Rd.  Use jughandle to turn left on to Georgia Tavern Rd.  Proceed on Georgia Tavern Rd. for 0.3 mile. Turn right on to Windeler Rd.  Continue 1.5 miles to the Reservoir area on left.

Manitoga, Garrison, NY

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway north and follow signs to Bear Mountain. At the end of the Parkway enter the roundabout and go over the Bear Mountain Bridge (toll). Immediately after the Bridge, make a left onto Route 9D north. Go 2.5 miles. Manitoga is on the right. There is also a sign for RWD (Russel Wright Design).

Manitou Point Preserve, Garrison, NY 10524 NY

From the east end of the Bear Mountain Bridge, head north on Route 9D for 1.7 miles and turn left into the parking area for the preserve at a small sign for the "Manitou Point Nature Preserve." The parking area is 750 feet north of the intersection of Route 9D with South Mountain Pass.

Maracella Community Center, Rockaway Township, NJ

From I-287, take US Route 23 North to County Rt. 513 S, Green Pond Road Exit. Follow 513 South for 5.3 miles to the Marcella Community Center. The Center is on the right across from Upper Hibernia Road.

From Rt 80, take exit 37, at the light make a left onto County Rt. 513 North/ Green Pond Road. Follow 513 North for approximately 7 miles to the Marcella Community Center. The center is on your left across from Upper Hibernia Rd.

Merrill Creek Reservoir Visitor Center, NJ

Merrill Creek Reservoir is easily found in New Village, New Jersey.  New Village is on Route 57, about 4 miles northeast of Phillipsburg, and about 8 miles southwest of Washington, all in Warren County.

Driving from Phillipsburg, in New Village turn left onto Montana Road.

Driving from Washington, in New Village turn right onto Montana Road.

Follow Montana Road, bearing to the left as it is renamed Richline Road.  Follow the sign for Merrill Creek Reservoir by turning left onto Merrill Creek Road.  Turn right into the Visitors’ Center parking lot.

Milford Knob, PA - Parking Lot

Take I-287 to Rt 80 West, go 9.5 miles. Exit at 34B for NJ 15 North, go 18 miles to 206 North. Go on 206 North, pass the Stokes State Forest Visitor Center, for ~8.4 miles to Route 209N into PA. Take slight right for 0.8 mile toward US209N and slight right onto US209N (0.1 mi). Turn left onto Broad Street (433 ft). Turn right onto Sawkill Ave 306 ft). Turn left onto Wycoff Ln (0.1 mi). Wycoff Ln turns right and becomes Quarter Horse Lane.

Minnewaska State Park Preserve, NY

Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 18 (New Paltz). After paying the toll, turn left onto Route 299 and continue west through the Village of New Paltz. When you cross the bridge over the Wallkill River at the west end of the village, continue ahead on Route 299 (do not turn right towards the Mohonk Mountain House). In another 5.5 miles (from the Wallkill River bridge), Route 299 ends at a T-intersection with Route 44/55. Turn right here and follow Route 44/55 as it negotiates a very sharp hairpin turn and climbs to pass under the Trapps Bridge (a steel overpass). Continue for 3.0 miles past the Trapps Bridge to the entrance to Minnewaska State Park, on the left side of the road. A $10 parking fee is charged at the gatehouse per vehicle. Turn left just past the gatehouse and continue uphill for 0.4 mile to the parking area at Lake Minnewaska.

Minute Man Restaurant, Basking Ridge, NJ

Route 202 north of I-287 EXIT 30B – Bernardsville, Route 202.  At end of exit in either direction, follow sign for Route 202.  At light, turn RIGHT (north) on 202.  In under one mile, Minute Man Restaurant is on the right.  Meet early inside for breakfast or outside at meeting time.

Mohican Center

Take Rt 80 W for 22 miles to Exit 12 for County Rd. Rte 521 toward Hope Blairstown/County Rte 519. Keep right at the fork and follow signs for Rte 521 Blairstown for 4.8 miles, Turn left onto 94 S for 1.3 miles. Right onto Mohican Road for 3.2 miles, left onto Gairler Road for 0.5 miles, then right onto Camp Mohican Road. Park on the side of the road where the AT crosses.

Monksville Reservoir, NJ

Take Rt. 287 to Exit 57(Skyline Drive). Continue to the end at Greenwood Lake Turnpike (County Route 511) in Ringwood. Turn right and proceed about 4.6 miles to the parking area for the Long Pond Ironworks visitor center (the parking area is on the right side of the road, immediately after crossing over the Monksville Reservoir, and is marked by a large sign “Long Pond Irwonworks Historic District”)

Monksville Reservoir, NJ - Beech Road

Take Rt. 287 to Exit 57(Skyline Drive). Continue to the end at Greenwood Lake Turnpike (County Route 511) in Ringwood. Turn right and proceed about 4.6 miles to Beech Road on right, immediately before crossing over Monksville Reservoir. Proceed about ¼ mile to parking area on left.

Monksville Reservoir, NJ - South Beach Boat Launch - Parking Area

Take I-287 to Exit 55. Take Rt 511 - Ringwood Ave North (toward Wanaque). After about 4 miles, continue on Greenwood Lake Turnpike (Rt. 511) for another 5.5 miles. The Monskville Reservoir South Beach Boat Launch is on your left shortly after you pass the Stonetown Road/Monksville Reservoir Dam. Continue on the dirt road to the parking area.

Take Palisades Interstate Parkway to its northern terminus at the Bear Mountain Bridge. Cross the bridge, bear left onto NY9D, and proceed north on NY9D for 14.5 miles to Mount Beacon Park. If you pass Bob’s Corner Store on your right, you've gone too far. The parking lot for Mount Beacon Park is well marked.

Mount Peter, NY      Parking Lot on Continental Road

I-287N to 87N to 17N, to 17A (exit from 17N on left.) Pass Rt 210. In about 1 –2 miles, turn left on to Continental Road. Soon there is a parking lot for about 15 cars.

Mt. Tammany, Delaware Water Gap

I-80 West to the Delaware Water Gap.  Follow I-80 to the last exit in New Jersey, and follow signs to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area Kittatinny Point Information Center.  You will be able to find the rest area parking lot by passing the Visitors’ Center, crossing back under I-80, and bearing right.  We will meet in the rest area, not at the parking lot for the AT and Sunfish Pond.

Natirar Park, 2 Main Street, Peapack, NJ

From 287 Northbound: Take Exit 22B (Route 202/206 NORTH Bedminster/Netcong). Follow directions from * below.

From 287 Southbound: Take Exit 22 (Route 202/206 NORTH Bedminster/Netcong). Follow directions from * below.

* Take Route 202/206 North to the split and bear right to stay on Route 202. Take Route 202 to the first light and make a right onto Main Street (still Route 202). Continue for about ½ mile across the North Branch River to the first light. Make a left on to Peapack Road (Route 512). Take Peapack Road for about 1 mile to the main entrance of the park on the right. Turn into entrance where Natirar pillars are: the drive bends and winds (short distance). Continue until first left, then first left again. This is the first of three gravel parking areas (within sight of one another). Park here. If this is full, park in the next one.

The New Weis Center, NJ Parking Area

Northbound: Route I-287 to Exit 55, Rt. 511. Go towards Wanaque, Rt 511 North. After about 4 miles turn left on West Brook Road (just past the Skyline Diner, recently renamed "Ringwood Diner & Pancake House"). Continue with Stonetown Rd. directions.*

Southbound: Route I-287 to Exit 57 (Ringwood). Bear right for Skyline Drive. Follow Skyline Drive to end,(a T), turn left on 511 South. Make a right on West Brook Road (just past restaurant on corner).
*Keep left at junction with Stonetown Road after crossing the reservoir. One half mile after junction, turn left on to Snake Den Road. Drive uphill bearing left to the parking area on the right just before the gate to the Weis Ecology Center.

Take Skyline Drive (exit 57 off RT 287) to its northwestern terminus at Greenwood Lake Turnpike (County Route 511). Turn left and proceed south for 1.6 miles to West Brook Road. Turn right onto West Brook Road and cross the Wanaque Reservoir on a narrow causeway. At the next T-junction, turn left and proceed for 0.8 mile to Magee Road. Turn right onto Magee Road and take the first left onto Burnt Meadow Road. Continue for 0.9 mile and turn left at the second intersection with Crescent Drive. Continue for 0.2 mile until you reach a huge boulder on the right side of the road, just beyond a curve. Park along the side of the road.

Bicycles are not permitted on Dyckman Hill—please use Henry Hudson Drive.)

Alternative Access (cars only, no trailers): Follow the directions to Ross Dock. The Englewood Area is one mile north of the Ross Dock circle on Henry Hudson Drive.

Palisades - Fort Lee Historical Park, Fort Lee, NJ

From Routes 4, 46, I-80, I-95: Take the exit for Fort Lee / Palisades Interstate Parkway. Continue on Bridge Plaza South (headed east) through several traffic lights. At the last light ("T" intersection), turn right onto Bigler St. to the end of the block (Main St.). Turn left (east) on Main St., then keep in left lane to bear left (north) onto Hudson Terrace. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (southbound only): Take the last exit before the George Washington Bridge (Hudson Terrace). Turn left (south) onto Hudson Terrace. At the second traffic light, keep in left lane to bear right onto Bigler St. to the stop sign at the end of the block (Main St.). Turn left (east) on Main St., then stay in left lane to bear left (north) on Hudson Terrace. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light.

From U.S. Route 9W: At Main St., Fort Lee, turn east (right if headed north, left if headed south). Proceed down the hill and keep in left lane to bear left at Hudson Terrace. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light. Or: At Palisade Ave. (Englewood Cliffs) turn east. Hudson Terrace will be the first right turn (Bank of America on corner). Proceed south several miles to the second light, then keep in left lane to bear right onto Bigler St. to the stop sign at the end of the block (Main St.). Turn left (east) on Main St., then keep in the left lane to bear left (north) on Hudson Terrace. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light.

From Edgewater & South: Take River Rd. north. This changes to Hudson Terrace at the top of the hill, at the Fort Lee-Edgewater border. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light.

Palisades - Gurnee Park and Amphitheater, Pomona, NY

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway heading north - take exit 12. Make a left at the exit and then make a right onto Route 45. You will see the entrance to the parking lot on the right. If you reach route 202 you have gone too far.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway heading south - take exit 13. You will be merging onto Thiells Mount Ivy road. Make a left at the light onto Route 202 and head towards Route 45 south. Make a right onto Route 45 south. The parking lot entrance is some 800' on the left, adjoining Gurnee Park and Amphitheater. A turquoise blaze designates the Long Path Trail.

Palisades - Police Headquarters (NJ Park Hdqtrs.), Alpine, NJ    Parking Lot

NJ Park Headquarters is about seven miles north of the George Washington Bridge, at the top of Alpine Approach Road (about one mile north of Closter Dock Road at Exit 2 of the PIP).

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (northbound): Take Exit 2, Rt. 9W, Alpine, Closter. Stay straight off the exit. Headquarters will be on the left.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (southbound): Take Exit 2, Rt. 9W, Alpine, Closter. Turn right on US Rt. 9W. Turn right at the first light (Alpine Approach Road), then bear right. Headquarters will be on the left.

From US Rt 9W: Turn east on Alpine Approach Rd (about 1 mile north of Closter Dock Road). Then bear right. Headquarters will be on the left.

Palisades - Ross Dock Picnic Area, Fort Lee, NJ

From northbound or southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway: Take Exit 1, Palisade Avenue, Englewood, Englew0od Cliffs. Turn left (east). Enter the park at the Englewood Cliffs park entrance and follow Dyckman Hill Road downhill. At the intersection, take the hairpin right turn (south) and continue downhill to the circle at the entrance to Englewood Picnic Area & Boat Basin. Go straight through the circle (still south) and about 1 mile to the circle at Ross Dock entrance road. Go around the circle to get onto the entrance road (north) and down to the entrance to Ross Dock Picnic Area.

From eastbound Routes 4 & 46 and northbound I-95: Take the exit for Fort Lee (Exit 72 for I-95 local, Exit 73 for I-95 express). Continue straight (east) on Bruce Reynolds Boulevard through several traffic lights (essentially, this is the service road for the highways approaching the George Washington Bridge). Turn right at the last traffic light (before the entrance to Fort Lee Historic Park) to go south on Hudson Terrace. Edgewater park entrance will be on your left (east). Take Henry Hudson Drive about 1 mile north to the circle and down to the entrance to Ross Dock Picnic Area.

Patriots Path Trailhead, Mendham Road, Mendham, NJ

From I-287:
Traveling South: Take Exit 35, Madison Ave. Turn RIGHT and at the light turn RIGHT onto Route 124 West, South Street. Continue straight thru town, travel around the "Green". Turn RIGHT at the light onto Route 510 West/Washington St. Continue on County Route 510 West (formerly Route 24) for about 4 miles (passing Delbarton School and the Lewis Morris park entrance on your left). The Patriots Path parking lot is on your RIGHT ~0.8 miles past the Lewis Morris Park entrance. There is a foot traffic light right before the small parking lot entrance.
Traveling North: Take Exit 35, South Street/Madison Ave. Turn LEFT onto Route 124 West, South Street. Follow the directions above from South Street.

Pickell Park, Lebanon, NJ

From Morristown, take I-287S to 78W. Take exit 24 for County Road 523S. There is a slight jog where you have to take 22 E and, in a short distance, turn right again onto 523S. In 1.1 miles, turn right onto Mountain Road. Pickell Park will be on your left. The entrance to the park is across Mountain Road from address 278 Mountain Road, Lebanon, NJ 08833.

Pocono Environmental Education Center

From I-80 , exit 34B for RT. 15N. toward Sparta. Route 15 will converge with Route 206 N. Continue North on Route 206 to the Milford Bridge (toll). From the Milford Bridge, turn left onto Route 209 South and continue for approximately 12 miles until you see the sign indicating a right turn for PEEC at Briscoe Mountain Rd. At the top of the hill, bear right at the stop sign and PEEC will be on your right.

Point Mountain, NJ, Parking Area

From I-80W, take Exit 26 Budd Lake/Hackettstown onto Rte 46W. Follow Rte 46 thru Budd Lake down Hackettstown Mt. to the 2nd traffic light. (Hyundai dealer is on the right at light.) At light, turn left onto East Ave. and follow to T at light. Make left onto Mountain Ave. and go down the street and make a right onto Rte 57. Follow Rte 57 past Shop-Rite strip mall, and other strip malls, and continue until you see a traffic light with a hang sign for Point Mt. Rd. (Bathgate garage on right). Turn left onto Point Mt. Rd. and after crossing a bridge, parking is on left at Musconetcong River Reservation.

From I-78, travel north for about 7 miles on Route 31 to the traffic light before the Musconetcong River. Turn right onto Musconetcong River Road and proceed to the end of the road. Turn left onto Point Mountain Road, the parking area is on the right.

From I-78, travel north for 8 miles on Route 31 to the traffic light at Rte 632. Turn right onto Rte. 632. Four miles after turning onto Rte 632, you will come to a stop sign at the junction with Rte 57. Turn right onto Rte. 57. Proceed straight for 0.2 miles and turn right onto Penwell Road. In approximately 1/2 mile, you will cross a one-lane bridge. The park entrance is the second driveway on the right.

Pyramid Mountain Visitor Center, Montville, NJ

Visitors’ Center is on Boonton Avenue opposite Mars Court.  The Education Center is located behind the Visitors’ Center.

I-287 Southbound: Exit 52 to Rt. 23 Northbound (see below)

I-287 Northbound:  Exit 44, proceed along Main Street to Boonton Avenue (Rt. 511).  Turn right on Boonton Avenue, and go 4.4 miles to the Visitors’ Center on the left.

Rt. 23 Northbound:  make U-turn for Boonton Avenue (Rt. 511 S).  Turn right on to Boonton Avenue for 4.4 miles to Visitors’ Center. 

Rt. 23 Southbound:  turn right on to Boonton Avenue (Rt. 511 S) for 4.4 miles to Visitors’ Center.

R - Directions

Ramapo Mountain State Forest, Skyline Drive, Oakland, NJ      Lower Parking Area 

GPS address:  64 Skyline Dr., Oakland. Parking lot is across the street.

I-287 (either direction)  Exit 57 Ringwood, NJ

Southbound:  bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.  Entrance to lower parking lot of
Ramapo Mt. State Forest is 1/10 mile on your left.  Note brown parking sign.

Northbound:  make left at end of ramp. Go through stop light and under overpass. You will then be on Skyline Drive.  Entrance to lower parking area is on left, 1/2 mile from the end of exit ramp.

Ramapo Mountain State Forest, Skyline Drive, Oakland, NJ      Upper Lot

Follow the directions to the Lower lot but continue approximately one mile up Skyline Drive. Park at a small dirt lot on the left hand side of the road (at the crest of the mountain).

Ramapo Valley County Reservation - Ramapo Valley Road Parking Lot (Mahwah, NJ) 

From South and North:  Route 17 to Route 202 exit. Travel towards Mahwah/Oakland on Route 202 ( aka Ramapo Valley Road).  Continue on Route 202 past Ramapo College.  Parking Lot Entrance is between 2 stone pillars on the right side after Darlington Road.

From West: I-287 North to Exit 58 – Oakland.  Turn left at light at end of exit ramp towards Oakland and Route 202 North.  Left at next light onto 202 North (aka Ramapo Valley Road).  Drive towards Mahwah. Continue on Route 202 for about 5 miles.  Parking Lot for Ramapo Valley Reservation is on the left between 2 stone pillars but you cannot turn left here.   Proceed past entrance and turn around at Darlington Ave – about 450 feet past park entrance on your right.  There is a church parking lot on Darlington Ave. that allows you to make a safe U-turn. (If you pass Ramapo College on Route 202 you’ve gone too far.)

Red Apple Rest Parking Lot, Southfields, NY

I-87 North, Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17 - Turn left at end of exit ramp.  You will be on Route 17 North. Take this road about 8.2 miles. The Red Apple parking lot is on the right about 1 mile north of Route
17A turn-off.

Rifle Camp Park, NJ

I-80 west to Exit 56 (Squirrelwood Rd./Woodland Park/Paterson). Left at end of ramp onto Squirrelwood Road. (If coming 80 east, take Exit 56A and go south on Squirrelwood Road.) Continue south on Squirrelwood Road (shortly becomes Rifle Camp Road) for 1.3 miles. Entrance to park on left, across from a 76 gas station. Take park road 0.8 miles to end at circle.

Ringing Rocks Road, Upper Black Eddy, PA parking lot

From the intersection of Rt 287 and Rt 78 (near Bridgewater):
- Take 78 W for 17.9 miles.
- Take the exit toward NJ-173 W.
- In about 0.1 mile at the traffic circle, take 2nd exit onto Pattenburg Rd heading to I-78E/US-22/County Road 614/Pattenburg Rd.
- In 2.7 miles, continue onto Country Road 614/Little York Pattenburg Road.
- In 2.4 miles, turn left onto Little York Mt Pleasant Road/State Route 631.
- In 0.2 miles, continue onto Spring Mills Road.
- In ~2.5 miles, turn left onto County Road 519/Milford Warren Glen Road.
- In ~2.3 miles, turn right onto Bridge Street and enter Pennsylvania.
- In 0.3 miles, turn right onto PA-32N/River Road.
- In 0.2 miles, take the 2nd left onto Bridgeton Hill Road.
- In 1.5 miles, turn right onto Ringing Rocks Road.
- The parking lot is in 0.6 miles.

Ringwood Manor/Ringwood State Park, NJ

Take Interstate Rt. 287 to exit 57. Proceed north on Skyline Dr. to end. Turn right onto Greenwood Lake Turnpike and go north for 1.5 miles to Sloatsburg Road. Right onto Sloatsburg Road for approx. 2.4 miles to Ringwood Manor on left. Go to either parking lot A or B as directed by hike coordinator.

Take either NY Thruway (direction north towards Albany) or Rt. I-187 N or Rt. 17 N. Go thru the Suffern interchange where all three roads meet and become NY Thruway to Exit 15A. At end of ramp left onto Rt. 17N to exit for Ringwood/West Milford (no exit number.) If you wind up in Sloatsburg, NY, you’ve gone too far!) Stay on this road for approx. 0.4 miles. Ringwood Manor State Park will be on your right shortly after you pass into Passaic County (note road sign). Go to either parking lot A or B as directed by hike coordinator.

Rockland Lake State Park, Nyack, NY South Entrance, First Parking Lot

Eastbound NY Thruway Exit 11 Nyack. This is the last exit before the Tappan Zee Bridge and leads on to Route 59 Eastbound.  Turn left at the light at the end of exit ramp on to Route 59 East. Get into the left lane and turn left on to Route 9W Northbound at the next traffic light.  In 2-3 miles as you descend Hook Mountain, you’ll see the sign on the right for Rockland Lake. Turn right into Rockland Lake State Park, and follow signs for the parking lot visible from the entrance.

Rockland Lake State Park, Nyack, NY South Entrance, Small Parking Area

Eastbound NY Thruway Exit 11 Nyack. This is the last exit before Tappan Zee Bridge and leads on to Rt. 59 East.  Turn left at the light at the end of exit – Rt. 59 East.  Get in left lane so that at the next traffic light you can turn left on to Rt. 9 W North.  In 2-3 miles as you descend Hook Mountain, you’ll see the sign on the right for Rockland Lake. Turn right into Rockland Lake State Park, and take the first road to the right leading up the mountain. Stay on this road for 1 mile or so until you see the firehouse on your right. Follow the road to the end. There is a very small parking area on either side of the road.

Rockland Lake State Park - Landing Road parking, Congers, NY

Take 287E/I-87S to Exit 11 toward W Nyack/So Nyack on right. Use left lane of exit ramp, and make left onto NY-59E. Go 0.4 mile and make left onto N. Highland Ave, 9W North. Follow 9W for 2.7 miles. Make right onto Rockland Lake Road, entering Rockland Lake State Park. Follow Rockland Lake Road 1.4 miles. Make slight right onto Landing Rd. Parking is on both sides of the road just after Knickerbocker Firehouse on the right.

Rockleigh Woods/Lamont Reserve, NJ

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway to Exit 4. If coming from the north, turn right onto Route 9W, and continue through the first traffic light. If coming from the south, turn left onto Route 9W at the first traffic light. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Oak Tree road and, in 0.2 mile (immediately after the Palisades Post Office), turn left onto Closter Road. In 0.5 mile, Closter Road becomes Rockleigh Road. Continue another 0.2 mile to the white Rockleigh Municipal Building (26 Rockleigh Road) on the left. Park in the spaces on the side or rear of the building.

Rt. 206 North through Newton.  From Newton Square, go approximately 4.5 miles to traffic light and Exxon station.  Make a hard left at light on to Rt. 206.   Pass Yetter’s Diner and continue on Rt. 206 until you see sign for Walpack Inn and Rosie’s Pizzeria Restaurant.  Make a left on to 560 West, and a quick right into Rosie’s parking lot.  Meet in the back of the restaurant.

Round Valley Recreation Area, Lebanon, NJ

From the north: Take I-78 West to Exit 20A to Route 22 West. Follow signs to the park. As you enter the park, you will pass an entrance booth. Fees are only charged between Memorial Day and Labor Day. After the booth, take the first right turn. At the end of this short road, turn right into the parking lot.

Route 94 AT Parking Lot, Vernon, NJ

Take I-287 North to Rt. 23 North to 515 North to Rt. 94 North. Look for sign for AT parking on the right, 2.2 miles from Vernon stoplight. Meet in this parking lot.

Rutgers Gardens

From I-287 South or North, take Exit 9. Turn onto River Road toward Bound Brook/Highland Park. Continue on River Rd (622) for 8.5 miles. Turn right to NJ 18 South ramp to New Brunswick, merge onto NJ-18 S (3 miles). Merge onto Route 1 South (0.8 miles). Take Ryders Lane exit toward Milltown/East Brunswick. Merge onto Ryders Ln, turn left (crossing Ryders Ln) onto Log Cabin Rd. Turn left to continue on Log Cabin Road to enter the Rutgers Gardens property.

Schooley's Mountain County Park, Long Valley, NJ Parking Lot

GPS: 91 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853

I-80 West/East to Exit 27A (27A-B) to Rt. 206 South. Follow Rt. 206 South (approximately 7-8 miles) to Rt. 24/513 West (right turn at the light). Continue from * below.

I-287 South/North to Exit 22 (22B) Bedminster/Netcong. Follow Rt. 206 North (approximately 9.5 miles from where Rt. 202 and Rt. 206 split) to Rt. 24/513 West (left turn at the light). Continue from * below.

* Follow Rt. 24/513 for about 5 miles to the center of Long Valley. Turn right on to Schooley's Mountain Road and proceed past the Washington Municipal building. Turn right onto Camp Washington Road. After ~0.8 miles Camp Washington Rd turns slightly right and becomes E Springtown Rd. Turn right into the park at the Schooley's Mt. County Park Sign, follow the road towards the parking lot at the far end at the road (past the ball field on the left).

Schunemuck Mountain, NY      Taylor Road Parking Lot

I- 87 North (NY Thruway) to Exit 16. After the toll booths, veer right to take Route 32 North for about 7 miles to the village of Mountainville. Turn left on Pleasant Hill Road/County Route 79. (There’s a sign “Black Rock Fish & Game Club” at this turn.) At bottom of hill, turn left onto Taylor Road. Bear right and cross the bridge over the Thruway. Trailhead parking area is on the right side of the road, just beyond the junction with Shaw Road.

Shepherd Lake, Ringwood, NJ      Parking Lot on Right by Boat Launch

Rt. 17 North or South: Take Ringwood/West Milford Exit—about 1 mile North of the Rt. 87 Exit 15A, and just South of the town of Sloatsburg. Stay on this road (Sterling Mine/Sloatsburg Rd.) . In about 4 miles you will pass Ringwood State Park (Ringwood Manor) on your right. In about ½ mile, at the sign for Skylands Botanical Gardens/Skylands Manor/Shepherd Lake, turn left onto Morris Road and **continue for about 1.2 miles to entrance to Skylands Botanical Gardens (stone eagles). Turn left here, following sign to Shepherd Lake for about ¾ mile to entrance. Meet by small parking area near boat launch on right.
I-287, Exit 57, Skyline Drive, Ringwood, NJ either direction.
Southbound: bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.
Northbound: make left at end of ramp. Go through stop light and under overpass. You will then be on Skyline Drive. Go about 5 miles over Ramapo Mountain to town of Ringwood. Silas Condict County Park, Kinnelon, NJ

Silas Condict County Park Take I-287 to US Route 23 North, continue on 23N for 2.6 miles to the exit for Kinnelon Road/Kiel Road. Turn left at light, following sign for “Kinnelon,” cross 23 and go 1.1 miles to entrance to Silas Condict Park on right. Turn into park and follow William Lewis Arthur Drive (entrance road) for 0.7 miles, passing 2 parking areas. Park in the 3rd lot along the road (this is by the lake and a stone building known as the Casino).

Skylands Manor, NY Parking Area

I-287 North or South. Exit at Exit 57. Follow signs to Skyline Drive, and take Skyline Drive up the mountain and back down, about 4.8 miles. At the first stop sign (Erskine Road) go straight, then turn right at the second stop sign onto CR-511 or Greenwood Lake Turnpike. Go about 1.5 miles, and take the second right onto Sloatsburg Road. Go about 2 miles, past Hewitt School, Carletondale Rd. and Margaret King Drive. Turn right onto Morris Road; Skylands is 1.5 miles up Morris Rd. at the top of the hill. There may be a charge for parking.

Sourland Mountain, Hillsborough, NJ Parking Area

GPS: 421 E. Mountain Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844 (entrance is just after, on the right between two boulders)

I-80 to I-287 South to Exit 17. Bear right to go around the circle on to Rt 206 South or Rt 78 to I-287 South to Exit 17. Bear right to go around the circle onto Rt 206 South.
Route 206 South for about 7 miles to CR 514 West/Amwell Road. Turn right and after 2.8 miles, turn left onto East Mountain Road.  Continue for 1.9 miles to the park entrance on the right. Parking area is straight ahead.

South Branch of Raritan Wildlife Management Area prk lot, Bartley, NJ

Route 80 W to Exit 27A to Route 206 South. Drive 4.2 miles, turn right at sign for Bartley/Flanders (just before overhead train tressle). Follow road for 1 mile, bear right at fork. Drive down road and pass Andrew Hall & Sons Plumbing and Heating. Immediately after , look for sign for South Branch Raritan/Wildlife Management area and parking lot.

From Routes 24, 206, or 513 (via Chester). At the intersection of Routes 206 and 24, take Route 206 North. Proceed approximately 1.5 miles to first traffic light. Turn left onto Four Bridges Road. Proceed 1 mile to West Morris High School on the right. Turn right at the school onto Bartley Road. Proceed for 0.6 miles. Parking lot is on left. The parking lot is right next door to Andrew Hall & Sons Plumbing and Heating. If you pass this landmark you've gone to far.

South Branch Raritan River, Clinton, NJ

Rt. 76 Westbound, Exit 15-Clinton. Bear right at exit ramp before traffic light.  Go one block and turn left (Landmark to watch for: The Clinton House will be on the corner).  Cross over the iron bridge and turn left just past the Clinton Canoe and Kayak Shop. The parking lot is on the right. Sign will read PRIVATE PARKING-BOATERS ONLY

South Mountain Reservation / Locust Grove Meeting Place (near MILBURN, NJ)

From I-78E: Take exit 49A from onto NJ-124 W, Springfield Avenue. In about 0.9 miles, turn right onto Main Street. In about 0.1 miles turn right onto Millburn Ave. From Millburn Avenue which is one way east, turn left onto Lackawanna Place. Lackawanna ends on Glen Ave. Take a quick right and a quick left into the Locust Grove Parking Lot.

From I-78W: Take exit 50B to Maplewood/Millburn. In 1.7 miles, turn right onto Vauxhall Road. In 0.7 miles, take a slight left onto Millburn Ave. In 0.5 miles, bear right onto Essex Street. In 0.3 miles, turn right onto Lackawanna Place. Lackawanna ends on Glen Ave. Take a quick right and a quick left into the Locust Grove Parking Lot.

South Mountain Reservation /  Mayapple Hill (near West Orange, NJ)

Take Garden State Parkway exit 145 to I-280 West. From I-280 West, take Exit 10 toward West Orange/South Orange/Montclair. In 2 miles, turn left on Northfield Avenue. Continue for 2.7 miles, then turn right on Cedar Avenue and proceed 4 miles to Mayapple Hill parking.

South Mountain Reservation /  Tulip Springs Meeting Place (near West Orange, NJ)

Rt. 280 to Exit 7 “Pleasant Valley Way, Milburn/Verona”.  Turn South onto Pleasant Valley Way, which is a left turn from the exit ramp off the highway.  Go straight on Pleasant Valley Way about 3 miles.  When you cross Northfield Ave, you enter South Mountain Reservation.  Pleasant Valley Way becomes Cherry Lane. Turn left at the Tulip Springs Boy Scout area, and bear immediately right down the hill to the parking lot on your right near several picnic tables and a picnic shelter.

South Mountain Reservation /  Turtle Back Rock Picnic Area, Walker Road, West Orange, NJ

From the North on I-280E: Exit 7 “Pleasant Valley Way, Milburn/Verona”. Turn South onto Pleasant Valley Way, which is a left turn from the exit ramp off the highway. After about 3 miles, take a sharp left at the light onto Northfield Avenue. Pass Turtle Back Zoo on the right, then take first right (0.8 miles after intersection) on Walker Road. In 0.2 miles turn right into road to Turtle Back Rock Picnic Area.

From the North or South on Garden State Parkway: Exit 145 to Route 280W then Exit 10 “W Orange/S Orange /Montclair”. Use left two lanes to turn left onto Northfield Avenue. After 1.8 miles turn left onto Walker Road. If you pass Turtle Back Zoo, you have gone too far. In 0.2 miles turn right into road to Turtle Back Rock Picnic Area.

From the South on I-287: Exit 37 to NJ-24. In 1.5 miles take Exit 2B “Florham Park” County Highway 510E/Columbia Turnpike. After 7.5 miles turn right onto Brookside Drive and right onto Northfield Ave after 1.2 miles. Pass Turtle Back Zoo on the right, then take first right (0.8 miles after intersection) on Walker Road. In 0.2 miles turn right into road to Turtle Back Rock Picnic Area.

Sparta Wildlife Management Area

From I-287, take the Butler exit for Rt. 23 North. Continue on 23 North for about 9 miles. Turn left onto Rt 517-Munsonhurst Road. Travel south to Ogdensburg about 1.6 miles and turn left onto Edison Avenue, which eventually becomes Edison Road. Go about 2.4 miles and turn left into the Sparta Mountain Wildlife Management Area parking lot.

From I-80 , exit 34B for RT. 15N. Get off at the Sparta/Franklin exit and travel north on Route 517-Munsonhurst Road to Ogdensburg (for 3.6 miles) and turn right on to Edison Avenue, which eventually becomes Edison Road. Go about travel 2.4 miles and turn left into the Sparta Mountain Wildlife Management Area parking lot.

Splitrock Reservoir, Marcella, NJ    Meet at boat launch parking lot

From I-80, take US Route 23 north to County Rt. 513 S, Green Pond Road Exit. Follow 513 south for 5.3 miles to the town of Marcella, turning left on to Upper Hibernia Road (across from Marcella Community Center). In 1.1 miles, turn left on to Splitrock Road. Splitrock Road changes from a paved road to a dirt road.. Cross a long one-lane bridge and park in boat launch parking lot on the left.

From the south, take exit 37 of Rt 80 on to County Rt. 513 N. Follow 513 north for approximately 7 miles, turning right onto Upper Hibernia Road (across from Marcella Community Center). In 1.1 miles, turn left on to Split Rock Road, which changes from a paved road to a dirt road. Cross a long one-lane bridge and park in the boat launch parking lot on the left.

Staples Parking Lot on Route 202, Oakland, NJ

From Route 287, take Exit 58. Turn left at the end of the ramp. Turn right at the light (cross the railroad tracks). This is Route 202. In half a block you'll see Staples on the left. Turn left before Staples.

Sterling Forest - AT Parking, Route 17A, Warwick, NY

FOR GPS - Use 78 Continental Rd., Warwick, NY (Continental Rd runs in back of the lot).

From the East: Take 287 to 87N/Orange Turnpike to Rt17A West for approx 9 miles to parking on the left for AT. If you pass Bellvale Farms on the right, you missed the lot.
From the West: Follow I-80 E to Green Pond Rd in Rockaway. Take exit 37 from I-80 E for 30 min (32.9 mi). Continue on Green Pond Rd. Take Union Valley Rd, Lakeside Rd and NY-210 N/Jersey Ave to 17A West to AT parking on the left. If you pass Bellvale Farms on the right, you missed the lot.
From the South: Take I-287 N, Ringwood Ave, Greenwood Lake Turnpike and E Shore Rd to NY17A in Warwick, NY. If you pass Bellvale Farms on the right, you missed the lot.

Sterling Forest - Doris Duke Loop Trailhead, NY

From 287N in NJ merge onto I-87N/NY-17N exit toward New York Thruway/Albany. Take exit 15A for NY 17N toward NY59/Sloatsburg/Suffern. Left onto 17N. Travel 7.3mi to left exit onto NY17A W. 3 miles to right on Benjamin Meadow Rd., then left into parking lot.

Sterling Forest - Furnace Loop Trailhead Parking, Southfields, NY

From NY State Thruway North, take Exit 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto NY Route 17. Continue on NY Route 17 North through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo and past the intersection with NY 17A. About 1.3 miles beyond the intersection with NY 17A, turn left onto Orange Turnpike (County Route 19). In about 1.5 miles make a right into the Furnace Loop trailhead Parking area.

Sterling Forest - Hall Drive, Southfields, NY

From NY State Thruway North, take Exit 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto NY Route 17. Continue on NY Route 17 North through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo and past the intersection with NY 17A. About 1.3 miles beyond the intersection with NY 17A, turn left onto Orange Turnpike (County Route 19). In 0.6 mile, turn left onto Hall Drive and park in a parking area on the left side of the road at a curve.

Sterling Forest State Park Visitors' Center Meeting Place     116 Old Forge Road, Tuxedo, NY 10987

In NJ, take Route 17 North OR Route 287 North to NY Thruway/Route 87 North towards Albany. Take first exit, 15A Suffern/Sloatsburg, off NY Thruway. Turn left at light onto Route 17 North (Do not confuse NY Route 17 North with the NJ one – these are separate highways.) Take first main exit bearing right for Route 72 / Sterling Mine Road. Drive about 2.8 miles to traffic light for Route 84 / Long Meadow Road. Turn right on Route 84. Travel about 3.6 miles to Old Forge Road on the left. Turn left on Old Forge Road and follow it to the Sterling Forest Visitor Center (which will be a log building on your left, slightly down the hill.) Since parking at the Visitor Center is limited to 15 minutes, you must park in the “Highlands Environmental Research” parking lot on your right off Old Forge Rd. (and up the hill across from the Visitor’s Center). Meet the AFW group on the front porch of the Visitor’s Center.

Sterling Forest Rt 17A - Parking Lot P8

Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 15A. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto N.Y. Route 17 and head north, through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo. Continue for about 2.5 miles beyond the village of Tuxedo to a traffic light at the intersection of N.Y. Route 17A. Bear left at the traffic light and continue up the ramp, then turn left at the top of the ramp onto Route 17A. Follow Route 17A west for 5.5 miles to the parking area for the Sterling Ridge Trail, on the left side of the road, just beyond a green-and-white sign indicating a hiker crossing. Follow the dirt road past the gate (which is normally left open) to a large parking area in a grassy field.

Sterling Forest Rt 17A - Commuter Parking Lot

Take I-87 North to Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17N. At the end of the exit ramp turn left on to Route 17N. Stay 7.4 miles on 17N through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo Park to the intersection of 17A (at a traffic light). Turn slight left to take the Route 17A ramp. Go straight at stop sign. Park in the commuter lot on your left.

Stokes State Forest, NJ - Culver's Gap Parking Lot

Take I-80 West. At Exit 34B bear right onto Route 15 North (toward Sparta). Rt. 15 North will turn into Rt. 206. Stay on Rt. 206 North, pass Yetter's Diner on left, pass Culver’s Lake on right. Turn right at Stokes/Sunrise Mountain sign (if you pass the Appalachian Trail Deli you've gone too far), then make first left, and then a quick left again into Culver's Gap parking lot. (Do NOT go to Sunrise Mt parking lot which is further up the road.)

Stokes State Forest - Kittle Field Picnic Area

Take I-287 to Rt 80 West, go 9.5 miles. Exit at 34 B for NJ 15 North, go 18 miles to 206 North to Stokes State Forest Office (1 Coursen Road, Branchville, NJ). Straight on Coursen Road. At T-intersection, turn left and go a short distance to the Kittle Field Parking ahead.

Stokes State Forest, NJ - Ranger Station Parking Lot

Take I-287 to Rt 80 West, go 9.5 miles. Exit at 34B for NJ 15 North, go 18 miles to 206 North. Go 6.7 miles. Turn right on to Courson Road. Park by Stokes State Forest Ranger Station (1 Coursen Road, Branchville, NJ).

Stokes State Forest, NJ - Sunrise Mountain, NJ Parking Lot

Take I-80 West. At Exit 34B bear right onto Route 15 North (toward Sparta). Rt. 15 North will turn into Rt. 206. Stay on Rt. 206 North, pass Yetter's Diner on left, pass Culver’s Lake on right. Turn right at Stokes/Sunrise Mountain sign, then make first left and meet in Sunrise Mountain parking lot. (The main entrance for Stokes Forest is further up Rt. 206. Do not go that far. Exit at Sunrise Mountain – small sign under Stokes Forest sign. The Appalachian Trail Deli is adjacent to the entrance. If you pass the bakery, you’ve gone too far).

Stonetown Recreation Fields, Ringwood, NJ     Parking Lot

GPS: 78 Stonetown Road (Stonetown Road and Mary Roth Drive), Ringwood, NJ 07456.

I-287 to Exit 55. Take Rt 511 - Ringwood Ave North (toward Wanaque). After about 3.5 miles, you will pass the Lakeside Diner on the right; turn left at the next road onto Westbrook Road. In 1.4 miles, take a slight right onto Stonetown Road. In 0.6 miles, you will see the sign “Welcome to Stonetown Recreation Complex” on your left. Turn into the complex and park. Note -- you will not be able to see the baseball fields from the street itself.

Storm King State Park, NY     Butterhill Trail parking area

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway North to the Bear Mountain Traffic Circle. At the circle take the 3rd exit onto Rte 9W North. Stay on 9W for 8.5 miles. The parking area will be on your right, marked by a blue "Parking Area" sign on 9W. Inside the parking area, not visible from 9W is a yellow-on-blue historical marker entitled “Freedom Road”. This parking area can only be accessed heading north. If you pass the lot you will need to make a u-turn on the next road (Mountain Rd).

Storm King State Park, NY - Storm King Loop Trailhead parking area

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway to its northern end at the Bear Mountain Circle. Continue north on US Route 9W for 8.1 miles to a parking area on the right at a sharp bend in the road. (This is the second parking area along Route 9W in Storm King State Park, but the only one which is designated by a blue "Parking Area" sign. It has a yellow-on-blue historical marker entitled “Freedom Road” and an adjacent marker commemorating the completion of the Storm King By-Pass Highway.)

Sussex Branch Trail, NJ - Andover Trail section

From the South: Take I-287 North to I-80 West to Rt 206 North. Pass Acorn Street and than pass Waterloo Road. Continue on 206 North for approximately 5.8 miles/10 minutes. Pass Shop Rite on right, continue north. Once you pass Limecrest Road, look for large brown sign on right side of road that says Sussex Branch Trail and also a Trail Crossing sign, as well as a Smokey The Bear Sign. Immediately after these signs, turn right into parking lot for trail.
From North: Take Rt 206 South through Newton towards Andover. Pass Goodale Rd/Kittatiny State Park sign on left, Cycle Kraft bike shop on right. Continue for 0.5 miiles/2 minutes. Turn left into parking look - look for brown sign Sussex Branch Trail 900 ft.

Sussex Branch Rail Trail, NJ - Waterloo Road Parking Lot

From I-80 W, take Exit 25 to US-206N. Take exit to International Drive. Turn right onto Waterloo Valley Rd. Continue onto Continental Drive. Parking is at bottom of the Continental Drive when it hits Waterloo Road.

Sussex Branch Trail, NJ - Waterloo Road Parking Lot

From the North: Take Rt. 206 South to Byram. You will pass a large Shop-Rite shopping center on the left, then a car wash. At the light past the junk yard, turn right on to Waterloo Rd., CR-604. * You will pass through a 'stone gate.' Look on the right for the packed cinder parking area across from Continental Dr.
From the South (Netcong): Take Rt. 206 North. At the light past Acorn Street, turn left on to Waterloo Rd., CR-604. Follow from * above.
From the South (Morristown):Take I-287 North to I-80 West to 206 North. At the light past Acorn Street, turn left on to Waterloo Rd., CR-604. Follow from * above.

From the West and South: Follow I-80 E to the Palisades Parkway North. There are several turns between 80E and Palisades Parkway, pay careful attention to signs or follow GPS. Take the Palisades Parkway North to Exit 4. Make a left on to Route 9W North and travel about 1.4 miles. Trailhead is on the right immediately after The 9W Market.
From the North or 287N: Take 287N to 87S toward Mario Cuomo Bridge to Palisades Parkway South (Exit 13S). Take Palisades Parkway South to Exit 4. Make a right onto 9W North and travel about 1.4 miles. Trailhead is on the right immediately after The 9W Market.

Tatum Park, Middletown, NJ

Traveling GSP South: Take Exit 114 , Holmdel/Middletown. After the GSP toll booth turn LEFT at the traffic light onto Route N 52-Red Hill Rd. After 0.3 miles (look out for signs: Deep Cut Gardens/Tatum Park/Red Hill Rd North), turn RIGHT onto Dwight Rd. Immediately turn LEFT onto Red Hill Rd. Continue for 1.4 miles. The Tatum Park is on your left. (Opposite from the Deep Cut Gardens parking lot)

Terrace Pond, Wawayanda State Park, NJ - Clinton Rd Parking Lot

Take NJ Route 23 to the Clinton Road exit, just west of Newfoundland. Proceed north on Clinton Road for 7.3 miles to a large parking area on the west side (left) of the road, just north of the entrance to the Wildcat Mt. Wilderness Site. If you're coming from the north, take Warwick Turnpike to Clinton Road and proceed south 1.7 miles to the parking area.

Tohickon Valley County Park, Bucks County, PA Park near Cafferty Road

Take 78 W from I-287 for approximately 14 miles. Take Exit 15 and go south on CR-513 to Frenchtown (~11 miles). In Frenchtown, turn right on to Bridge Street and cross into Pennsylvania. Turn left on to River Road (PA Rt 32), which goes down along the west side of the Delaware River. Turn right onto Cafferty Road (just after Point Pleasant Baptist Church, which is on your right). Tohickon Valley County Park entrance is on left in ~1.4 miles. Park as close to Cafferty Road as possible.

The Tourne, Boonton, NJ - Parking Area by Ballfield

I-287 From the South: Exit 43/Intervale Rd. Turn left onto Intervale Rd and cross over I-287. At first light, turn right onto Fanny Rd. At second stop sign, turn right onto Boulevard/West Main St. At the fork (Elcock Ave/W.Main St) stay left onto Elcock Ave/Powerville Rd, then quick left on to McCaffrey Lane which is the access road to the park. After you pass the yellow gates, please continue driving into the park until you come to a parking lot on the left by the ball field. (~0.3 mile).

I-287 From the North: Exit 45/Myrtle Ave. Turn Left onto Myrtle Ave, go approx. 0.8 mi and turn Right onto Main St. Go approx. 1 mi at fork (W.Main St/Hawkins Pl (Shell Gas Station) stay right and turn right at the next street (Powerville Rd.) Then quick left on to McCaffrey Lane which is the access road to the park. After you pass the yellow gates, please continue driving into the park until you come to a parking lot on the left by the ball field. (~0.3 mile).

From Route 46: TTake the Boulevard (County Route 618) off Route 46 through Mountain Lakes. Bear LEFT at fork (Elcock Ave/Powerville Road). Take the first left, McCaffrey Lane, the access road to the park. Continue driving through the park until you come to a parking lot on the left by the ball field.

Tunnel Field Recreation Park - Knowlton Twp, NJ

Take I-80 West to Exit 4 A-B-C_NJ-94 North_Columbia/Blairstown. Keep right to continue on Exit 4 C-A, follow signs for NJ-94 N /Blairstown, and merge onto NJ-94 N. Stay on NJ-94 N for about 1.5 miles to Tunnel Field - Knowlton Twp. Recreation Park.

From I-287 or NY Thruway at Suffern NY, take Exit 15A Route 17 North. At light, turn left on to Route 17 North. Tuxedo is 10 minutes north. Just past the railroad station, turn right onto E. Village Road, cross the tracks. The commuter lot is immediately on left, before the Ramapo River.

Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge on Oil City Road Parking Lot, NJ

From NJ Rt 23, take 284 N toward Unionville, NY. Just before center of town, make a right on to Oil City Road. In approximately 0.5 miles, Oil City Road turns right. This part of the road is also known as State Line Road.  Cross the Wallkill River.  Park in the first large parking lot on the right (~1 mile), which has a sign indicating the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge.

Walpack Inn Parking Lot, Walpack, NJ

Route 206 North through Newton.  From Newton Square, go approximately 4.5 miles to traffic light and Exxon station.  Make a hard left at light on to Route 206.  Pass Yetter’s Diner and continue on Route 206 until you see sign for Walpack Inn and Rosie’s Pizzeria Restaurant.  Make a left on to 560 West.  At blinking light in Layton, stay straight on 640 West.  At junction (bend in road) bear right on 615 South until you get to Peter’s Valley.  615 ends, but you continue straight on this road until you get to the Walpack Inn.  Park on extreme right side of the Walpack Inn parking lot.  (It is approximately 16 miles from Newton Square to the Walpack Inn.)

Wanaque Ridge - Back Beach Park, Haskell, NJ

Take I-287 south to Exit 55 (Wanaque/Pompton Lakes). Turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto Union Avenue, then turn left at the next light onto Ringwood Avenue (County 511), following the signs for “Wanaque.” Continue for 0.7 mile to the next light, and turn right onto Second Avenue. At a “stop” sign in 0.3 mile, turn left onto the Boulevard. At the next intersection, bear right to continue on Fourth Avenue. In 0.2 mile, where Fourth Avenue bears left, continue straight ahead on Back Beach Road and follow it to its end at a large parking area.

Washington Crossing State Park, New Hope, PA

Washington Crossing State Park, New Hope, PA From 287 South: Take Exit 17 onto US 202/US206 South toward US22 W/Somerville/Flemington. Continue for 15 miles. Take roundabout to 3rd Exit to continue on US202 South for about 6.4 miles. Take ramp to Rt 179 South on right toward Lambertville. Turn right on Hwy 179 South for about 5.5 miles. Turn right onto Bridge St - crossing the Delaware River Bridge entering PA. Turn left onto PA-32 South/River Rd. After 2.3 miles at the street crossing 'Aquetong Rd,' turn onto the dirt road across from Aquetong Rd you will see a sign 'Washington Crossing State Park'. The Thompson Neely House parking area is on the right before the small bridge.

Watchung Reservation / Seeley's Pond Meeting Place

NEW MEETING PLACE at Seeley's Pond Picnic Area (near Watchung, NJ)

Note on directions: There are two sets of directions for the Watchung Reservation Hike because access ramps eastbound and westbound Route 78 are not in the same location.

West bound: Route 78 to Exit 43 (Diamond Hill Road). At the end of the exit, you need to turn left, but it may involve going right and making a U-turn. Head east on Diamond Hill Road. Turn left at the traffic light onto NJ route 527 – also known as Valley Road. Make your first right into parking lot for Seeley’s Pond Picnic Area just after the sign for Watchung Reservation.

Eastbound: Route 78 to Exit 43 Berkeley Heights, Watchung. Drive to traffic light and turn left on Valley Road/527 North. Straight thru next traffic light (Diamond Hill Road), then right at first opportunity into parking lot for Seeley’s Pond Picnic Area just after the sign for Watchung Reservation.

Watchung Reservation, near Watchung, NJ   -  Trailside Science and Nature Museum Meeting Place

There are two sets of directions for Watchung Reservation Hike because access ramps Eastbound and Westbound Route 78 are not in the same location.

Westbound:  Route 78 to Exit 43 (Diamond Hill Road). At the end of the exit, you need to turn right off the exit, go through the first traffic light, then turn right into the corporate office parking lot, come back out to the road, and turn left (this makes a legal U-turn). Head East on Diamond Hill Road.  Turn left at the traffic light onto NJ Route 527, also known as Valley Road.  Turn right (on first road) at Sky Top Road.  Sky Top Road becomes Coles Ave.  You will pass through a residential section but continue straight to the “Trailside Science and Nature Museum” parking lot.  (Just at the parking lot, the road curves sharply right- this is your signal to look ahead to the parking lot.)

Eastbound:  Route 78 to Exit 43 Berkeley Heights, Watchung.  Drive to traffic light and turn left on Valley Road/527 North.  Straight through next traffic light (Diamond Hill Road), then right at first road (Route 527 continues left).  This is Sky Top/Coles Ave., although there is no street sign. Wawayanda Mountain

From 287 North: Take Exit 52B onto Route 23 North for 14.3 miles. Turn right onto Country Rd 515 and continue for 8.7 miles. Turn left onto Country Rd 644/Vernon Crossing Rd for 1.4 miles. Turn right onto Country Rd 517/McAfee Glenwood Rd and continue for 1.6 miles. Parking area is along the right hand shoulder, just before Carol Drive (in Vernon Valley)

From 287 South: Take Exit 52A-52B onto Route 23 North and follow above directions.

Wawayanda State Park, NJ Visitor Center

From Rt. 23 North or South: Exit at Union Valley Rd. Take Union Valley Rd. about 6 miles to stop sign. From stop sign, go to second traffic light. Turn left, travel to fork in road (about 2 miles); go left about 1/2 mile to Warwick Turnpike. Turn left. The park entrance is four miles on the left.  Meet near Visitors' Center.

Wawayanda State Park, Wawayanda Lake - Beach parking lot

Take I-287 to Exit 57 (Skyline Drive) and continue on Skyline Drive to its western terminus at Greenwood Lake Turnpike (County Route 511). Turn right and proceed north on Greenwood Lake Turnpike. When you reach a fork at 7.0 miles, bear right to continue on Greenwood Lake Turnpike. Then, at 8.5 miles, again take the right fork to continue on Warwick Turnpike (still County Route 511). Proceed for another 4.5 miles to the entrance to Wawayanda State Park, on the left. Follow the entrance road for about 2.5 miles to the beach parking area on Wawayanda Lake (there is an entrance fee from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day).

Wawayanda State Park, Clinton Road - Parking Area #4 (NY/NJ Trail Conference Map #21)

From Route 23 heading northbound: Take the Clinton Road exit. On exit ramp, turn right onto Clinton Road (90 degree turn, not the 160 degree turn). * Proceed 4.5 miles along Clinton Road, passing the Clinton reservoir. At approximately 4.4 miles you will come to a small bridge. Parking Area #4 is just past the bridge on the right hand side. Please park here. *

From Route 23 heading southbound: Entering the town New Foundland, look for the Clinton Road exit. There will be a jughandle turn before the traffic light at Clinton Road. The jughandle will take you left across Route 23 to Clinton Road. Once on Clinton Raod, proceed from the * above.

White Lake, Blairstown, NJ

 

I-80 West, Exit 12. Take Route 521 North to Blairstown. Turn left at T (Route 94 junction); turn right at first traffic light (leaving Routes 94 and 521). Hardware Store (Ace Harddware) on right. Follow Rt 521 (Stillwater Rd) for 2.6 mi/5minutes more to White Lake parking area (in front of lake).

Whittingham Wildlife Management Area, Sussex, NJ

Take I-80 west to Exit 25 (U.S. 206). Follow 206N about 10 miles through the township of Andover. Turn left onto County Rd 618 (Fredon Road Springdale Rd). Shortly after turning (1 mile), you will see Whittingham Management Area on left.

William Paterson University Parking Lot, Wayne, NJ

I-287 North Exit 59 to Rt. 208 South to High Mountain Road.

Traveling North on Rt. 208 take the Colonial Road/Franklin Lakes exit. Turn left at the end of the ramp on Colonial Road then the next left onto High Mt. Road. Continue along High Mt. Road through the stop sign and circle to the fork (about 3 miles). Take the RIGHT fork onto Belmont. Stay on Belmont to the first traffic light. Go right and through the WPU gate (entry 6) a short distance up the road. At the “T“ intersection go right and continue toward Lot 6. Just after Lot 6, on the right, is a new parking area for High Mountain trails. Do not park in Lot 6.

Woodstock, NY, Bread Alone Bakery

Take NY State Thruway (Rt I-87) North to Exit 19 (Kingston exit).  Take the first right off the traffic circle (Rt. 28 West).  At the third set of lights (5.7 miles), take a right on Rt. 375 to Rt. 212 (3 miles) and turn left toward the center of the Village of Woodstock.  Look for signs for municipal parking on the right.  Park in the parking lot and then walk back to the street.  Bread Alone is a bakery with table and chairs in the back.  We’ll meet there and carpool to the trailhead.

Wyckoff Environmental Center, Wyckoff, NJ

From Route 4 West: At the fork after the GS Parkway and Paramus Avenue exits, take the right fork that becomes Route 208 North. From 208, take the first Goffle Road Exit. Make a right onto Goffle Road at the end of the exit ramp. At a "T" intersection, turn left onto Godwin Avenue and follow approximately 1.8 miles. Make a right onto Crescent Avenue. The Center (James McFaul Environmental Center) is on the right hand side at the bend in the road.

From 287 North and South:  Exit onto 208 South. Take the Ewing Avenue exit. At the end of the exit ramp, make a left onto Ewing. At the first light, make a right onto Franklin Avenue. Follow Franklin through 1 light, RR tracks and 1 more light. Go through the 2nd light and take your 3rd right (look for the round green Environmental Center sign), this is Crescent Avenue. The Center is on the left hand side at the bend on the road
