AFW Camping: Winter camping at Stokes State Forest (Shotwell area) on Sat 1/31 - Sun 2/1/2026)
Sat: - set up tents, day hike, possible evening campfire, relax in lean-to with wood stove at night before going to our tents to sleep. Sun - breakfast, short hike, lunch, leave by 2pm. AFW has secured tent sites and an enclosed lean-to with a wood stove (no bunks, no inside tables), all near a bathroom! These are accessible by car so feel free to bring as much equipment as you like. We will set up comp and day hike in the area. Depending on fire restrictions, we hope to have a campfire for the evening. The following day, we will relax in the morning, maybe a short morning hike, have lunch, break camp and leave no later than 2pm. The plan is to use the lean-to for relaxing at night before going to our tents since it will be warmer and for breakfast in the morning. It can be used by anyone who cannot keep warm in…
