AFW Adirondacks Hiking Weekend on Sat 7/27/2024- Tues 7/30/2024

Adirondacks Hiking Weekend Saturday July 27 - Tuesday July 30, 2024

AFW is planning on running its summer weekend of hiking in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains at the Rock and River B&B in Keane, NY.

The hiking will be moderate & strenuous with a possible easy/moderate warm-up hike Saturday afternoon and good-bye hike Tuesday morning.  The plan

is to do Pitchoff on Monday (this is an all-day strenuous hike).  The plans for the Sunday hike(s) have not been set but could range from mod

to moderate/strenuous. Please note, the “plan” is subject to change depending on the weather.  We’ll spend the late afternoons and evenings

resolving the world’s problems, discussing books we’ve read and new and old passions.  No matter what, we never seem to run out of topics.

The price includes 3 nights, double occupancy rooms with everyone bringing their own food as explained below.  Also, not all rooms are created equal but the price is the same.  There are 2 singles, 3 bedrooms with 2 beds (1 has a double & twin rollaway, 1 has 2 twins, 1 w/ 2 double) and 1 3-bed room(1 double and 2 twins in a large loft) .  We will try to accommodate requests for roommates but requests for singles will be lottery style so you have to be ok sharing if you don’t get a single.

FEE: $370 for members. ($420 for non-members)

Deposit: $100 deposit holds your spot with balance of payment: $270 for members ($320 for nonmembers) due July 1st.

MEALS –  Rock and River is a complete house with a large kitchen with a center island that  includes a 6 burner stove,  oven,  2   fridges   (1   with   a   top   freezer), microwave, dishwasher, BUNN coffeemaker, hot pot, pots/pans/dishes etc. and 2 grills on the large deck.  Everyone is responsible for their own food for all 3 meals.

For the past few years we have followed Mickey’s suggestion and organized a potluck for dinners and I would like to continue that tradition.  More info to those

who sign up.   AFW will provide reg. and decaf coffee, milk and sugar and an assortment of teas.  Everyone brings their own breakfast, lunch, adult beverages.

There are also some great restaurants in the area (to be provided) if anyone wants to go out to dinner or order takeout.

AFW Refund Policy - If Adventures For Women (AFW) cancels a Weekend Trip for any reason, a full refund will be given to participants.  If you cancel by 7/1/24, AFW will refund your deposit minus a $10 administration fee.
