AFW Refund Policy - If AFW cancels a Weekend Trip for any reason, a full refund will be given.

Adirondacks Hiking Weekend Saturday, July 30 – Tuesday, August 2, 2022

AFW is planning on running its summer weekend of hiking in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains at the Rock and River B&B in Keane, NY.

The hiking will be moderate to strenuous (by Adirondack standards) with a warm-up hike Saturday afternoon and good-bye hike Tuesday morning. The plan is to do Pitchoff (this is a shuttle hike) on Monday and Van Hoevenberg on Sunday (the “plan” is subject to change depending on the weather) and then spending the late afternoons and evenings resolving the world’s problems, books we’ve read, new and old passions. No matter what, we never seem to run out of topics.

The price includes 3 nights, double occupancy rooms. However, due to Covid our B&B has turned into a B and BYOF (bring your own food) and this is explained below.

FEE: $370 for members. ($420 for non-members)

MEALS – Rock and River is a complete house with an industrial size kitchen that includes a 6 burner stove, oven, 2 fridges (1 with a freezer), microwave, dishwasher, BUNN coffeemaker, hot pot, all pots/pans/dishes etc. and 2 grills on the large deck. Everyone is responsible for bringing their own food for all 3 meals and yes, there is room for everyone to prepare their own. AFW will provide regular and decaf coffee, regular milk and sugar and an assortment of teas. In the past people have brought appetizers, wine, dessert etc. to share. For example, I always pick up 3 of the famous pies from Noonmark Diner and of course ice cream to go with it.

There are also some great restaurants in the area (list to be provided) if anyone wants to go out to dinner or order takeout.
