Learn to Become A Citizen Scientist by using the iNaturalist App on a Smartphone.Â
Participants will learn how to join this international effort at creating a database of flora and fauna that is utilized by researchers, professors and students.Â
The event would involve a 3-5 mile hike in the woods, somewhere, at a moderate pace. Spring would be the best time for wildflowers and mushrooms.
Participants would receive instructions ahead of time on how to download the App to their iPhone or Android. On the day of the hike, we would walk and every 15 minutes or so, participants would be given lessons on how to take a photo that is best for iNaturalist, how to upload the photo to iNaturalist, how to identify species, etc.
