Allamuchy Twp., Elementary School Parking Lot

I-80 West to Exit 19 (Hackettstown, Andover Route 517 Exit) At bottom of ramp, cross over Route 517, go down hill (667N). At 1/10 mile, make left at Allamuchy General Store; go down hill to Allamuchy Township Elementary School Parking Lot on the right.

Bear Mountain, NY   Parking Area Entrance

Take Palisades Interstate Parkway North and follow signs to Bear Mountain.  At the end of the Parkway, enter the roundabout and take the first exit onto US-9W South/US-202 South.  Follow the signs to the Bear Mountain Inn parking area on your right. We will meet at the entrance of the parking area.

Blairstown Hardware Store, Blairstown, NJ

I-80 West, Exit 12. Take Route 521 North to Blairstown. Turn left at T (Route 94 junction); turn right at first traffic light (leaving Routes 94 and 521). Hardware store on right. Meet on left side of building, alongside road.

Blue Mountain Lakes, NJ   Parking Area

I-80, Exit 12, Take Rt. 521 North to Blairstown. Turn left at “T” (Rt 94 junction).
Turn right at first traffic light (leaving Rts. 94 and 521).  Take County Road 602 which bends around and makes hairpin turn uphill.  Bear left and continue for about 7 miles to Millbrook (not Stillwater).  Turn right at Millbrook Village and go about 1.5 miles to the Crater Lake sign (large general store, Delaware View House).  Make right and watch for Blue Mt. Lakes parking area.

Bull's Island Section of Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park, Rt. 29, NJ     First Parking Lot

(about 6 miles North of Lambertville and 10 miles South of Frenchtown)
Meet in the first parking lot on the right, immediately after turning into the park.

From the East:  take Rt. 202 South towards Lambertville. Take the last exit before the toll, and turn North onto Rt. 29. Go about 6 miles north and you'll see the sign for Bull's Island on the left.

From the South:  take Rt. 31 North to Ringoes. Turn left onto Rt. 202 South towards Lambertville. Take the last exit before the toll, and turn North onto Rt. 29. Go about 6 miles North and you'll see the sign for Bull's Island on the left.

From the North: take Rt. 31 South or I-287 South to 202 South towards Lambertville. Take the last exit before the toll, and turn North onto Rt. 29. Go about 6 miles North and you'll see the sign for Bull's Island on the left.

Celery Farm, Allendale, NJ

From Rt 17 North: Exit at Allendale (West). Go west on East Allendale Road for one mile to Franklin Turnpike. Turn right and go about 0.2 miles to a small parking lot on the right. Parking area is between Pittis Avenue and Alison court (on the right). Small and hard to spot.

Cheesequake State Park, Hook Creek Lake Parking Area

Cheesequake State  Park is accessible from Exit 120 off the Garden State Parkway and from Route 34.

From the GSP: Make a right at the end of the exit ramp and follow to the first light. Make a right. At next light make a right and follow road into the park.

From Route 34 South: Make a left turn onto Disbrow Road which is the light immediately south of the Marketplace shopping plaza. Make a right at the end of Disbrow Rd. Make a left at the first light and follow into the Park.

From Route 34 North: Make a right turn onto Disbrow Road which is the light immediately north of the Berg Animal Hospital. Make a right at the end of Disbrow Rd. Make a left at the first light and follow into the Park. State Park signs are posted at critical intersections along these routes.

Clinton & Van Orden Roads Intersection (Bearfort Ridge)

The trail head is at the intersectioin of Clinton Road and Van Orden Road. Clinton Road intersects Route 23 near Pequannock and Green Pond Mt.

From Route 23 North: Pass County Rte 513 in Union Valley. Look for Clinton Road Exit. Turn right on Clinton Road just before the traffic light. * Proceed 2.4 miles to the intersection of Clinton and Van Orden Roads and park at pull-out on the right hand side, far corner.

From Route 23 South: You will enter New Foundland. There will be a jug handle before the traffic light at Clinton Road that will take you left across Route 23. Once on Clinton Raod, follow directions from the * above.

Clinton Staging Area 66 Overlook Drive, Clinton, NJ

From the East: Take I-78 West to Exit 15. At the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight through the light. This will put the gas stations on your right.

From the South: Take Route 31 North to I-78 west to Exit 15.  At the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight through the light. This will put the gas stations on your right.

From the North: Take I-287 south to I-78 west to exit 15. At the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight through the light. This will put the gas stations on your right.

From the West: Take I-78 East to Exit 15. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right at the light. Turn left at the next light. This will put the gas stations on your right.

In about 1/2 mile, you will see DeMott pond on your right. Immediately after the pond, turn right onto Village Road. * (missed the turn, see below) After the 3rd  set of speed bumps, turn right onto Overlook Drive. Overlook Drive is a big lollipop with a short stick. You just turned onto the stick. Follow the loop of the lollipop, ignoring the crossroads, to the top of the loop. Go down the dip and find #66.

* What to do if you miss the right turn onto Village Road: The fix for this boo-boo is very easy. Go up the ramp that you are headed on, but do not move to the left to get onto I-78. Instead, follow the ramp as it turns to the right to exit from I-78 onto Route 173. Bear to the right, stop at the stop sign, follow Bank Street (see the bank on the left?) up the hill, and before the next stop sign, turn right onto Village Road. After the first set of speed bumps, turn left onto Overlook Drive. Overlook Drive is a big lollipop with a short stick. You just turned onto the stick. Follow the loop of the lollipop, ignoring the crossroads, to the top of the loop. Go down the dip and find #66.

Columbia Trail, High Bridge, NJ     Public Parking Area

From Interstate Route 78, go north on Route 31. After the car dealership, before the second traffic light, turn right onto Route 513. Across the intersection, see the small strip mall with the Bagelsmith. That is the last bathroom opportunity. Follow Route 513 as it goes into High Bridge, goes under the train tracks, and bends left. As the hill rises, see the sign indicating a bike crossing. Turn left into the public parking area.

Cooper Mill County Park, Chester NJ    Parking Lot

From: I-287 Southbound   Exit 35.  Turn RIGHT at the end of the ramp onto Madison Avenue. Turn RIGHT at the light onto South Street and follow the signs for Rt. 24 W (local Rt. 510.)

From: I-287 Northbound   Exit I-287 at Rt. 206N to Rt. 24W.

From: I-80   Exit 27 Rt. 206S to Rt. 24W

From: I-78   Exit I-287 N to Rt. 206 N TO Rt. 24W.

From the intersection of Routes 24 and 206, take Rt. 24 W about 1½ miles.  Cooper Mill Parking Area is on the left.

Culver’s Gap, NJ        Appalachian Trail Parking Lot just off Rt 206 on Rt 636

Stokes State Forest - US 206 North or South to Culver's Gap. Turn North on to County Route 636 (Upper North Shore Rd), just north of Culver's Lake, for 0.2 miles and at the Y go left. Turn immediately left into the Appalachian Trail parking lot.

CVS Shopping Center Parking Lot, Greenwood Lake, NY

I-287, Exit 57, Skyline Drive, Ringwood, NJ either direction.

Southbound:  bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.

Northbound: make left at end of ramp.  Go through stop light and under overpass.  You will then be on Skyline Drive.  Go about 5 miles over Ramapo Mountain to town of Ringwood.  Go through stop sign to the  “T” intersection  with Rt. 511, turn right and **continue on Rt 511 North (Greenwood Lake Tpk) about 1.3 miles, then take right fork, following Rt 511 North. Make another right turn on Lakeside Avenue (at the Exxon station) following signs to Greenwood Lake (This road becomes Rt. 210 when you cross the NJ/ NY border.) Follow the shoreline of Greenwood Lake about six miles - there will be a bend in the road at a traffic light. In another 1/2 mile, you will see the CVS parking lot on your left. Greenwood Lake Post Office is next door.  

 Rt. 17 N or S:   Take Ringwood/West Milford Exit—about 1 mile North of the Rt. 87 Exit 15A, and just South of the town of Sloatsburg.  Stay on this road (Sterling Mine/Sloatsburg Rd.) about  7 miles to the  “T” intersection with Rt 511.  Turn right, continue as above.**

D&R Canal, Griggstown Rentals, Griggstown, NJ - Dock

From the South:  Rt. 1 North.  Turn left at New Rd. ***Cross over Rt. 27. (Turns into Bunker Hill Rd. at Rt. 27 intersection).  Follow Bunker Hill Rd. to the end.  Turn left.  Approximately ½ mile on left hand side is Griggstown Rentals.  Look for the dock.

From the North:  Rt. 1 South.  Turn right at New Rd.  ***Same as above.

Delaware River Paddle, Pt. Pleasant, PA

Rt. 78 West to Exit 15, Clinton.  Turn on to Rt. 513 South to Frenchtown.  Cross over the Delaware River Bridge into Pennsylvania.  Turn left onto Rt. 525.and go approximately 7 miles to Pt. Pleasant.  Turn left on Byram Rd.  Follow signs to Bucks County River Country.  Meet by the Rental Concession. 

Delaware Water Gap     Coppermine Trail

Take I-80 West to the Delaware Water Gap.  Get off at the last exit in New Jersey (just before the bridge over the Delaware River that leads to Pennsylvania), and head north along the Delaware River on River Road (also known as Old Mine Road). The road is only one lane wide for about half a mile, and a traffic light has been installed to regulate the two-way traffic. Continue for 7.5 miles to the Coppermine Parking Area on the left side of the road. Park here.

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, NJ  Parking Lot

Take I-80 West to Exit 1.  (Do not go over the toll bridge. If you reach the toll, you've gone too far.) Go down the ramp to the end of road.  The Delaware River will be in front of you; you will be at a T.  Make a left and follow the access road around to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Easton Fish and Game, near Easton, Pennsylvania

From I-78
Westbound - take EXIT 75 and make a LEFT at the end of the ramp.
Eastbound - take EXIT 75 and make a RIGHT at the end of the ramp.

Make your first RIGHT on to INDUSTRIAL DRIVE. Follow Industrial Drive to the stop sign. Make a RIGHT on to MORVALE ROAD. To the next stop sign and make a RIGHT (you will go under the interstate overpass) and make your first LEFT on to ISLAND PARK ROAD.

Drive past ASHLAND CHEMICAL. This road will wind around for a few miles. Proceed up the hill (the SPCA ANIMAL SHELTER will be on your left). At the top of the hill take the right fork on to REDDINGTON ROAD; it has a NO OUTLET sign. Continue on this road, down the hill until you see the railroad tracks. Make a HARD RIGHT TURN and follow EAST REDDINGTON ROAD to the club property at the dead end

Foodtown Parking Lot, Cold Spring, NY

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP) north all the way to the end.  The PIP will turn into Perkins Memorial Drive.  Continue on this until the traffic circle by the Bear Mountain Bridge.  Go ½ around the circle and over the Bear Mountain Bridge.  At the end of the bridge, turn left onto Route 9D.  Take Route 9D approximately 8.4 miles into the town of Cold Spring.  The Foodtown parking lot will be on your left hand side.

Fort Montgomery Park, Bear Mountain    Parking Lot

Palisades Parkway North to Route 6. Follow signs to the Bear Mountain Bridge. Go around the circle leading to the bridge. DO NOT go over the Bear Mountain bridge. Follow the circle around to Route 9W North. Go north on 9W. You will pass Fort Montgomery Park on the right. Just beyond that, there is a parking lot on the right.

Camp Glen Gray, Mahwah, NJ

From I-287 South, take Exit 58 for Route 202 North (RamapoValley Road), Oakland. At end of exit ramp, (light) turn right onto Rt. 202 North. **Take Rt. 202 North 1.9 miles to Glen Gray Road (see Glen Gray sign opposite road on right). Turn left on to Glen Gray Road and go over the steel bridge. Turn right on to Midvale Mountain Road. Take this road for 0.6 miles to the camp entrance. At the end of the road there is a caretaker's house on the left, then a camp cabin on your right. Park in the lot just beyond the camp cabin.

From I-287 North, take Exit 58. At end of exit ramp, turn left for 0.2 miles to next light (keep left). Turn left at this light on to Rt. 202 North. Follow as above.**

Glenwild Avenue, Bloomingdale, NJ 

From I-287, take Exit 53.  Turn left and go North on Paterson Hamburg Turnpike toward Butler. Go through little "downtown" Bloomingdale. Just after the Post Office (also Rite-Aid and Ward's Plaza), bear right when Main Street goes left into Butler. Immediately after bearing right, bear right again onto Glenwild Avenue (sign for West Milford). Go about 2 miles and pass Kampf Lake on the left (pine trees lined in front of lake). Go almost another mile, and the parking area for Norvin Green will be on the right at the top of the hill 

Goldberg’s Bagels, Ringwood Commons, Skyline Drive, Ringwood, NJ

I-287 Exit 57 either direction.  Southbound: bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive. 

Northbound: make left at end of ramp. Go through stop light and under overpass. You will then be on Skyline Drive. Go about 5 miles over Ramapo Mountain to Ringwood.  Follow Park ’n ’Ride signs.  Turn left on Cannici Drive to enter Ringwood Commons.  If you reach a stop sign on Skyline Drive (at Erskine Road), you’ve gone too far!  Meet inside Goldberg’s Bagels.

Griggstown Parking Lot, near the Griggstown Tow Path, NJ

From the South: Route 1 North. Turn left at New Road. ***Cross over Route 27. Road name changes to Bunker Hill Road at Route 27 Intersection. Follow Bunker Hill Road to the end. Turn left. Approximately ½  mile turn right (see canoe rental at this intersection). Take the bridge over the canal and tow path to the parking lot on the left. If this lot is full, go ¼ mile to the next lot on the left and walk back.

From the North: Route 1 South. Turn right at New Road. *** as above

Hacklebarney State Park Parking Area, NJ

Route 206 to Chester, NJ.  Follow Route 24/513 west for one mile to State Park Road.  Turn on to State Park Road, follow for two miles.  Turn right on to Hacklebarney road for ½ mile.  The entrance is on the left.  Meet in the parking area.

Harriman State Park, NY         Anthony Wayne Recreation Area

Exit 17 on the Palisades Interstate Parkway - this IS Anthony Wayne Recreation Area. (This is 15 miles North of NY Thruway Exit 13N (PIP North), and 1/2 mile North of the Harriman Park Information Center in the center island of PIP, and 4 miles South of Bear Mountain. ) Meet in the first parking lot. From Bergen County allow 30 to 40 minutes.

Harriman State Park, NY           Elk Pen Parking

I-87 North, Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17: turn left at end of ramp. You will be on Route 17 North. Take this road about 13 miles to the Arden Valley Road entrance to Harriman State Park on the right. Turn right and proceed 1/2 mile to parking area on right.
From NYS Thruway Exit 16: Proceed south on Rt 17 approximately 4 miles. Look for road to the left with Appalachian Trail crossing sign.

Harriman State Park, NY    Johnsontown Road Meet at end of road at cul-de-sac

From NJ: Rt 17 North to NY State Thruway. Take first exit, 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn left at bottom of ramp onto NY Rt 17 N and continue through Village of Sloatsburg. Just past village, turn right at traffic light into Harriman State Park. Cross an overpass over railroad tracks and continue along Seven Lakes Drive for 0.7 miles, passing under Thruway overpass. Just before a sign indicates that you are entering Harriman State Park, turn left, then immediately turn right onto Johnsontown Road. Proceed for 1.2 miles to the end of the road and park at the cul-de-sac.

Harriman State Park       Jones Point Parking Lot

Palisades Parkway:
Take the Palisades Parkway toward Bear Mountain Bridge. At the circle just before the bridge, get onto 9W South. Parking is on the right 3.5 – 4 miles south of the circle. There will be a road that comes into 9W at a sharp angle across from the parking lot.

I-87 Thruway:
Take I-87 to Exit 16 (Harriman). Take Rt 6 East towards the Bear Mountain Bridge. At the circle just before the bridge, get onto 9W South. Parking is on the right 3.5 – 4 miles south of the circle. There will be a road that comes into 9W at a sharp angle across from the parking lot.

Harriman State Park, NY           Lake Sebago Boat Ramp Parking Area

Rt. 17 North through Sloatsburg, NY.  ***Turn right into Harriman Park on Seven Lakes Drive. Continue for about 4 miles.  Parking area for boat ramp is on the left, (small sign) entrance is downhill.

From I-287 or NY Thruway at Suffern, NY take Exit 15A  Rt. 17 North.  Continue as ***.

Harriman State Park, NY     Lake Skannatati Parking Area, Seven Lakes Drive

Route 17:  Take Seven Lakes Drive just north of the town of Sloatsburg, NY to Lake Skannatati parking area north of the Kanawauke Circle.

Palisades Interstate Parkway:   Exit  14 West on Willow Grove which becomes Gate Hill Road, which becomes Kanawauke Road.  At the Kanawauke Circle, go ¼ way around and go north on Seven Lakes Drive.  Lake Skannatati parking area is less than a mile on the left.

Harriman State Park, NY       Lake Tiorati Beach Parking Area, Seven Lakes Drive

Route 17:  Take Seven Lakes Drive just north of the town of Sloatsburg, NY to Tioroti Circle, which is 10.5 miles from Route 17.  Go around the circle and park in the Lake Tiorati Beach parking lot.

Harriman State Park, NY       Route 6 Hikers Parking, West of Long Mountain Circle

Route 6 Hikers Parking is located on Route 6 between Route 17/ NY Thruway at Harriman/Woodbury NY and the Palisades Interstate Parkway.near Bear Mountain NY. Allow 30 – 40 minutes from Spring Valley NY, junction of GSP and Thruway or from Suffern NY, junction of 287 and Thruway.

Access from the Palisades Interstate Parkway Exit 18 at Long Mountain Circle: From GS Parkway take Thruway towards TZ Bridge to Exit 13 N .  Once on PIP take Exit 18. Take 2nd right around circle for Route 6.  Parking lot is on the right at the top of the long one-mile hill. *** Note small brown trail parking sign.  Parking lot is a horseshoe drive.  Meet half way round near historical Long Path sign.

Access from NY Thruway at Harriman/Woodbury: Take Thruway Exit 16 and carefully follow signs for Route 6 east (Long Mountain Parkway) towards Bear Mountain.  Parking Lot is on left on top of the mountain about 5- 6 miles from exit16.  Follow from *** above.

Harriman State Park, NY             Route 106

There are 5 parking areas on Route 106 between Routes 17 North and Seven Lakes Drive. They can be reached from either the West or the East. We will number them going from West to East.

From the West: I-87 North to Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17N. At the end of the exit ramp turn left on to Route 17 North. Stay 7.4 miles on 17 North through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo Park to the intersection of 17A (at a traffic light). Turn left on to Route 17A and go a short distance to Route 106. Turn right on to Route 106 into Harriman State Park. The FIRST parking area is a short distance on the left. Follow this road past Lake Stahahe (on your left) and continue around the turn to the SECOND parking lot (this one on the right hand side of the road (2.4 miles from where you got onto Rt 106). The THIRD lot is up the road on the left near the Victory Trailhead and FOURTH a bit further, also on the left, at a point where the Ramapo-Dunderberg (red) Trail crosses the road. There are actually two parking areas here, one next to the other. The FIFTH lot is at the Picnic Area by Lake Kanawauke, a short distance from the Lake Kanawauke traffic circle.

From the East: I-87 North to Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17 North. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left on Route 17 North. Stay on 17 North through Sloatsburg to the traffic light. Turn right on Seven Lakes Drive towards Harriman State Park. Follow Seven Lakes Drive into Harriman Park, past the Visitors’ Center, to Kanawauke Circle. Go ¾ way around the circle to Route 106 West. The first parking area (lot FIVE) is at the Picnic Area on the left, a short distance from the circle. Parking lot FOUR is on the right past Little Long Pond (there are actually two parking lots here, one next to the other). Lot THREE is further up the road on the right. Lot TWO is on the left and the last one, lot ONE is about 2 miles from TWO on the right.

Harriman State Park, NY           Visitor’s Center, Seven Lakes Drive

Route 17 North through Sloatsburg, NY.  Turn right into Harriman Park on Seven Lakes Drive.  Once inside the park, the Visitor’s Center and parking area is first building on your right.  Parking is also available on both sides of Seven Lakes Drive.

Hibernia Diner, Hibernia, NJ

Location:  Route 513, just off I-80, Exit 37 – Hibernia/Rockaway, either direction, about 5 miles west of I-287.  After exiting I-80, turn north on Route 513.  Diner is on your left.  Meet in the back non-smoking room early for breakfast or outside in the back at the meeting time.

High Point State Park, Sussex, NJ - High Point Ranger Station

North on Route 287 to Route 23 North to High Point State Park (HPSP).  This is a long drive on Route 23 – allow plenty of time. 

West on I-80 to Route 23 North to HPSP.

South on I-287 to Route 23 North to HPSP.

East on Route 94 East to Route 565 East to HPSP.

Meet in the parking lot by the Ranger's Station/lodge/rental house (big brown bldg.)

Hook Creek Lake Parking Lot, Cheesequake State Park

Garden State Parkway to Exit 120.  Follow the brown park signs to Cheesequake State Park.  Once inside the park, follow the signs to the Hook Creek Lake parking area.

Jockey Hollow, Parking Lot by the Visitors’ Center, Morristown National Park

I-287 South to Exit 30B (Bernardsville).  Turn right at the end of the ramp on to Route 202.  At the next light (about 1.7 miles) turn left on to Tempe Wick Road.  The park entrance is about 1.4 miles on the right.

Kay Environmental Center, Chester, NJ Parking Area

From I-287 Southbound:  Exit 22.  Follow the signs for Rt 206N. Bear left where Rt. 202 and Rt. 206 split to Pottersville Road (on the left). There are two Pottersville Roads. Go through the light at the first Pottersville Road (CR 512) for about 3.4 miles until you come to the second Pottersville Road. Turn Left. The entrance gate is on the right in about 0.9 miles. Follow driveway to the parking area.
From I-287 Northbound:  Exit 22B onto 206N. Follow directions above.
From I-78:   Exit I-287 N to exit 22B onto Rt. 206N. Follow directions above
From I-80:   Exit 27 Rt. 206S to Pottersville Road. Turn Right. The entrance gate is on the right in about 0.9 miles. Follow driveway to the parking area. (note above there are two Pottersville roads).

Long Pond Ironworks Historic District Museum, West Milford, NJ

Note:  Car shuttle necessary from meeting place to beginning and end of trail.

Southbound:  bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.

Rt. 17 N or S:   Take Ringwood/West Milford Exit—about 1 mile North of the Rt. 87 Exit 15A, and just South of the town of Sloatsburg.  Stay on this road (Sterling Mine/Sloatsburg Rd.) about  7 miles to the  “T” intersection with Rt 511.  Turn right and go 3.3 miles to the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District museum on the right.

Lord Stirling Park    Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road, Basking Ridge, NJ

I-287 North to 26A Exit which says Mt. Airy Road/Liberty Corner. Go right off of the exit and you will be on Mt. Airy Road. Make the first, almost immediate left on to Lake Road. Follow Lake Road to the end. At the end, make a left on to Finley Avenue. Make next right onto Collyer Road. Turn right on to Maple Avenue. Follow past the stable, and turn left on to Lord Stirling Road. There is a large green and white sign for the Environmental Education Center on the left by the turn. The Center is one mile down on the left side.

I- 287 South to Exit 30A for North Maple Avenue/Basking Ridge. Follow for 2.8 miles to Lord Stirling Road on your left. Make this left and follow for one mile. The Environmental Education Center will be on your left.

Route 78 West to Exit #36. Turn right off of the exit ramp. Follow King George Road up the hill, and bear to the left at the fork. Follow Stonehouse Road to the end. Make a right on to Finley Avenue. Go under railroad tracks, then turn right on to Cross Road. Go to the end of Cross Road and turn left on to Maple Avenue. Proceed on Maple approximately 1/4 mile. Turn right on to Lord Stirling Road. Center is one mile down on the left side.

Route 78 East to Exit #33, marked Martinsville/Bernardsville. Turn left off of the exit ramp. Follow to Lyons Road and turn right on to Lyons. (6th traffic light from the exit ramp of Rt. 78) Continue on Lyons for 1.8 miles. Go under railroad tracks, then turn right on to Cross Road. Go to the end of Cross Road and turn left on to Maple Avenue. Take your second right on to Lord Stirling Road. The Center will be one mile down on the left side.

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation / Picnic Area Meeting Place near Milton/Jefferson Twp, NJ     

I-80 to Exit 34B (15 North).   Follow Route 15 North towards Sparta about 4.5 miles to the Weldon Road Exit. (This exit occurs immediately after the “Lake Shawnee” exit.)  Exit on Weldon road and continue straight.  Your next turn, into the Picnic Area, occurs after another 4.0 miles. The sign says "Mahlon Dickerson Picnic Area" - and it occurs after the "Trailer" area. Turn left into picnic area and park in the lot at the end of the road.

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation / Saffins Pond Meeting Place  (near Milton/Jefferson Twp, NJ)     

I-80 to Exit 34B (15 North).   Follow Route 15 North towards Sparta about 4.5 miles to the Weldon Road Exit. Manasquan Reservoir, Howell, NJ    Visitors’ Center

Garden State Parkway to Exit 98, Interstate 195 West. Proceed on I-195 west to Exit 28B, Rt. 9 north-Freehold.  Stay in right lane when entering Rt. 9 north. At first traffic light, turn right on to Georgia Tavern Road. Follow Georgia Tavern Road for 0.3 mile. Turn right on to Windeler Rd. Continue 1.5 miles to the Reservoir Area on left.

State Hwy. 9 south from Freehold to Georgia Tavern Rd.  Use jughandle to turn left on to Georgia Tavern Rd.  Proceed on Georgia Tavern Rd. for 0.3 mile. Turn right on to Windeler Rd.  Continue 1.5 miles to the Reservoir area on left.

Merrill Creek Reservoir Visitors’ Center

Merrill Creek Reservoir is easily found in New Village, New Jersey.  New Village is on Route 57, about 4 miles northeast of Phillipsburg, and about 8 miles southwest of Washington, all in Warren County.

Driving from Phillipsburg, in New Village turn left onto Montana Road.

Driving from Washington, in New Village turn right onto Montana Road.

Follow Montana Road, bearing to the left as it is renamed Richline Road.  Follow the sign for Merrill Creek Reservoir by turning left onto Merrill Creek Road.  Turn right into the Visitors’ Center parking lot, where we’ll meet.

Minnewaska State Park Preserve, NY

I-87 (NY State Thruway) to Exit 18 – Route 299 West/New Paltz.  Follow to the end.  At the stop sign, turn right onto Route 44/55.  Approximately 5 miles, watch for Park Reserve sign.  Turn left and follow road through the main gate ($5.00 per car entry fee) and up the main road to the end (approximately 1 mile).

Minute Man Restaurant, Basking Ridge, NJ

Route 202 north of I-287 EXIT 30B – Bernardsville, Route 202.  At end of exit in either direction, follow sign for Route 202.  At light, turn RIGHT (north) on 202.  In under one mile, Minute Man Restaurant is on the right.  Meet early inside for breakfast or outside at meeting time.

Montvale Service Area – Garden State Parkway

Southbound: Left lane exit 2 miles South of NY Thruway/Spring Valley, NY

Northbound: Left lane exit 5 miles North of Hillsdale toll.  Meet in commuter parking lot in far North end, North of the Dunkin Donuts drive-through near Grand Ave., Montvale, NJ

Mount Peter, NY      Parking Lot on Continental Road

I-287N to 87N to 17N, to 17A (exit from 17N on left.) Pass Rt 210. In about 1 –2 miles, turn left on to Continental Road. Soon there is a parking lot for about 15 cars.

Mt. Tammany, Delaware Water Gap

I-80 West to the Delaware Water Gap.  Follow I-80 to the last exit in New Jersey, and follow signs to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area Kittatinny Point Information Center.  You will be able to find the rest area parking lot by passing the Visitors’ Center, crossing back under I-80, and bearing right.  We will meet in the rest area, not at the parking lot for the AT and Sunfish Pond.

Norvin Green, NJ       Glenwild Ave Parking Area

From South: I-80 to I-287 North. Take I-287 to Exit 53 (Paterson Hamburg Tpk). Turn left and go north on the Paterson Hamburg Turnpike towards Butler. Go through “downtown” Bloomingdale, and just after the Post Office, Rite-Aid, and Ward’s Plaza, bear right when Main St. goes left into Butler. Immediately after bearing right, go right again on to Glenwild Ave. (sign for West Milford). Go about 2 miles and pass Kampf Lake on the left. Go uphill almost a mile, and the parking area will be on the right at the top of the hill.

From North: I-287 South to Exit 53. Turn left towards Bloomingdale. Follow directions above.

Nyack State Park, Nyack, NY

I-287 Exit 11 (last exit before the Tappan Zee Bridge).  Turn left on to Route 59 (E. Main Street) through Nyack. Turn left on to Broadway at light. Turn right into Nyack State Park at the end of Broadway.

Palisades - Allison Park, Englewood Cliffs, NJ

From Palisades Interstate Parkway (northbound): Take Exit 1, Palisade Ave. Turn right off the exit ramp onto Palisade Ave., then take an immediate left onto Hudson Terrace south (Bank of America on corner). In about a mile, the entrance road will be on the left, opposite the Englewood Cliffs Department of Public Works yard. Palisades - Alpine Boat Basin, Alpine, NJ Picnic Area

Palisades - Englewood Boat Basin, Englewood NJ

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (north- or southbound): Take Exit 1, Palisade Ave. Turn left. Enter the park and follow the road down to the river, taking the sharp right turn about halfway down the hill.

From US Rt 9W (cars only, no bicycles or trailers): Turn east on Palisade Ave. (diner on corner). Stay straight to enter the park and follow the road down to the river, taking the sharp right turn about halfway down the hill. (Trailers must use the directions for Hazard's Launching Ramp. Bicycles are not permitted on Dyckman Hill—please use Henry Hudson Drive.)

Alternative Access (cars only, no trailers): Follow the directions to Ross Dock. The Englewood Area is one mile north of the Ross Dock circle on Henry Hudson Drive.

Palisades - Fort Lee Historical Park, Fort Lee, NJ

From Routes 4, 46, I-80, I-95: Take the exit for Fort Lee / Palisades Interstate Parkway. Continue on Bridge Plaza South (headed east) through several traffic lights. At the last light ("T" intersection), turn right onto Bigler St. to the end of the block (Main St.). Turn left (east) on Main St., then keep in left lane to bear left (north) onto Hudson Terrace. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (southbound only): Take the last exit before the George Washington Bridge (Hudson Terrace). Turn left (south) onto Hudson Terrace. At the second traffic light, keep in left lane to bear right onto Bigler St. to the stop sign at the end of the block (Main St.). Turn left (east) on Main St., then stay in left lane to bear left (north) on Hudson Terrace. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light.

From U.S. Route 9W: At Main St., Fort Lee, turn east (right if headed north, left if headed south). Proceed down the hill and keep in left lane to bear left at Hudson Terrace. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light. Or: At Palisade Ave. (Englewood Cliffs) turn east. Hudson Terrace will be the first right turn (Bank of America on corner). Proceed south several miles to the second light, then keep in left lane to bear right onto Bigler St. to the stop sign at the end of the block (Main St.). Turn left (east) on Main St., then keep in the left lane to bear left (north) on Hudson Terrace. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light.

From Edgewater & South: Take River Rd. north. This changes to Hudson Terrace at the top of the hill, at the Fort Lee-Edgewater border. The Historic Park entrance will be on the right, immediately before the traffic light.

Palisades - Police Headquarters (NJ Park Hdqtrs.), Alpine, NJ    Parking Lot

NJ Park Headquarters is about seven miles north of the George Washington Bridge, at the top of Alpine Approach Road (about one mile north of Closter Dock Road at Exit 2 of the PIP).

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (northbound): Take Exit 2, Rt. 9W, Alpine, Closter. Stay straight off the exit. Headquarters will be on the left.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (southbound): Take Exit 2, Rt. 9W, Alpine, Closter. Turn right on US Rt. 9W. Turn right at the first light (Alpine Approach Road), then bear right. Headquarters will be on the left.

From US Rt 9W: Turn east on Alpine Approach Rd (about 1 mile north of Closter Dock Road). Then bear right. Headquarters will be on the left.

Palisades - State Line Lookout, Alpine, NJ

Palisades Interstate Parkway Northbound – Right at State Line Lookout Exit between Exits 2 and 3.

Palisades Interstate Parkway Southbound - Follow signs for left exit for U turn to PIP Northbound. Get into right lane for State Line Lookout Exit. Meet in parking area near building

Point Mountain Parking Areas

Point Mountain is located at the northernmost tip of Hunterdon County. There are 3 parking areas located from the Junction of I-78 and Route 31:

To Mountain Top Road Parking Area:
From I-78 travel north for about 7 miles on Route 31 to the traffic light before the Musconetcong River. Turn right onto Musconetcong River Road and proceed for about 5.5 miles. Mountain Top Road will be a right turn. Drive carefully up this road. The parking area will be on the left in about 3/4 of a mile.

To Point Mountain Road Parking Area: 
From I-78 travel north for about 7 miles on Route 31 to the traffic light before the Musconetcong River. Turn right onto Musconetcong River Road and proceed to the end of the road. Turn left onto Point Mountain Road, the parking area is on the right.

To Penwell Road Parking Area:
From I-78 travel north for 8 miles on Route 31 to the traffic light at Rte. 632. Turn right onto Rte. 632. Four miles after turning onto Rte. 632, you will come to a stop sign at the junction with Rte. 57. Turn right onto Rte. 57. Proceed straight for 0.2 miles and turn right onto Penwell Road. In approximately 1/2 mile, you will cross a one-lane bridge. The park entrance is the second driveway on the right.

Pyramid Mountain Visitors’ Center, Montville, NJ

Visitors’ Center is on Boonton Avenue opposite Mars Court.  The Education Center is located behind the Visitors’ Center.

I-287 Southbound: Exit 52 to Rt. 23 Northbound (see below)

I-287 Northbound:  Exit 44, proceed along Main Street to Boonton Avenue (Rt. 511).  Turn right on Boonton Avenue, and go 4.4 miles to the Visitors’ Center on the left.

Rt. 23 Northbound:  make U-turn for Boonton Avenue (Rt. 511 S).  Turn right on to Boonton Avenue for 4.4 miles to Visitors’ Center. 

Rt. 23 Southbound:  turn right on to Boonton Avenue (Rt. 511 S) for 4.4 miles to Visitors’ Center.

Ramapo Mountain State Forest, Skyline Drive, Oakland, NJ     Lower Parking Area

I-287 (either direction)  Exit 57  Ringwood, NJ     

Southbound:  bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.  Entrance to lower parking lot of
Ramapo Mt. State Forest is 1/10 mile on your left.  Note brown parking sign.

Northbound:  make left at end of ramp. Go through stop light and under overpass. You will then be on Skyline Drive.  Entrance to lower parking area is on left, 1/2 mile from the end of exit ramp.

Ramapo Mountain State Forest, Skyline Drive, Oakland, NJ      Upper Lot

Follow the directions to the Lower lot but continue approximately one mile up Skyline Drive. Park at a small dirt lot on the left hand side of the road (at the crest of the mountain) across from the Camp Tamarack entrance.

Ramapo Valley County Reservation / Ramapo Valley Road Parking Lot (Mahwah, NJ) 

From South and North:  Route 17 to Route 202 exit. Travel towards Mahwah/Oakland on Route 202 ( aka Ramapo Valley Road).  Continue on Route 202 past Ramapo College.  Parking Lot Entrance is between 2 stone pillars on the right side after Darlington Road.

From West: I-287 North to Exit 58 – Oakland.  Turn left at light at end of exit ramp towards Oakland and Route 202 North.  Left at next light onto 202 North (aka Ramapo Valley Road).  Drive towards Mahwah. Continue on Route 202 for about 5 miles.  Parking Lot for Ramapo Valley Reservation is on the left between 2 stone pillars but you cannot turn left here.   Proceed past entrance and turn around at Darlington Ave – about 450 feet past park entrance on your right.  There is a church parking lot on Darlington Ave. that allows you to make a safe U-turn. (If you pass Ramapo College on Route 202 you’ve gone too far.)

Red Apple Rest Parking Lot, Southfields, NY

I-87 North, Exit 15A, Sloatsburg, Route 17 - Turn left at end of exit ramp.  You will be on Route 17 North. Take this road about 8.2 miles. The Red Apple parking lot is on the right about 1 mile north of Route
17A turn-off.

Ringwood Manor House, 1st Parking Lot

Take either the NY Thruway (direction north towards Albany), or Rt. I-287 North or Rt. 17 North.  Go through the Suffern interchange where all three roads meet and become the NY Thruway.  Exit at 15A, which is Rt. 17 North.  On Rt. 17 North, take the next exit (Ringwood/West Milford – no exit number.  If you wind up in Sloatsburg, NY, you’ve gone too far!).  Stay on this road for about 4 miles.  Ringwood Manor State Park will be on your right shortly after you pass into Passaic County  (note road sign).

Rockland Lake State Park, Nyack, NY South Entrance, First Parking Lot

Eastbound NY Thruway Exit 11 Nyack. This is the last exit before the Tappan Zee Bridge and leads on to Route 59 Eastbound.  Turn left at the light at the end of exit ramp on to Route 59 East.  Get into the left lane and turn left on to Route 9W Northbound at the next traffic light.  In 2-3 miles as you descend Hook Mountain, you’ll see the sign on the right for Rockland Lake. Turn right into Rockland Lake State Park, and follow signs for the parking lot visible from the entrance.

Rockland Lake State Park, Nyack, NY South Entrance, Small Parking Area

Eastbound NY Thruway Exit 11 Nyack. This is the last exit before Tappan Zee Bridge and leads on to Rt. 59 East.  Turn left at the light at the end of exit – Rt. 59 East.  Get in left lane so that at the next traffic light you can turn left on to Rt. 9 W North.  In 2-3 miles as you descend Hook Mountain, you’ll see the sign on the right for Rockland Lake. Turn right into Rockland Lake State Park, and take the first road to the right leading up the mountain. Stay on this road for 1 mile or so until you see the firehouse on your right. Follow the road to the end. There is a very small parking area on either side of the road.

Rosie’s Pizzeria, Walpack, NJ

Rt. 206 North through Newton.  From Newton Square, go approximately 4.5 miles to traffic light and Exxon station.  Make a hard left at light on to Rt. 206.   Pass Yetter’s Diner and continue on Rt. 206 until you see sign for Walpack Inn and Rosie’s Pizzeria Restaurant.  Make a left on to 560 West, and a quick right into Rosie’s parking lot.  Meet in the back of the restaurant.

Round Valley, Lebanon, NJ, near Clinton, NJ     Boat Ramp Parking Lot

Take I-78 West to Exit 20A, to Rt. 22 West. Follow signs to Round Valley Park. Take I-78 East to Exit 18 (Rt 22 East). Follow signs to Round Valley Park.Once in park, go past ranger station (no fee, so no need to stop), take first right and drive the short distance to the boat ramp parking lot.

Round Valley, Lebanon, NJ, near Clinton,     NJ  Park in South Lot

From the North: Take the Parkway, Rt. 287 or your favorite path to get to Rt. 78. Take Rt. 78 West to exit 20A. Turn right onto Cokesbury Road. At the light, turn right onto Rt. 22 West. Go 0.8 miles, and use the jughandle to turn onto the Round Valley Access Road..

From the West: Rt. 78 East, take exit 18 to Rt. 22 East. Turn right at the third light onto the Round Valley Access Road.

From the East: Rt. 78 East to exit 20A. Turn right onto Cokesbury Road. At the light, turn right onto Rt. 22 West. Go 0.8 miles, and use the jughandle to turn onto the Round Valley Access Road..

From the South: From Rt. 206 North, at the Somerville circle, follow signs for Rt. 22 West. After about 13 miles Rt. 22 crosses Cokesbury Road. Continue 0.8 miles on Rt. 22 West, then use the jughandle to turn onto the Round Valley Access Road.

From the Round Valley Access Road:  Go 1.3 miles and turn left into the Round Valley Recreation Area. You may want to stop at the Ranger Station for the restroom opportunity. Take the first right turn into the South Lot.

Route 94 AT Parking Lot

Take I-287 North to Rt. 23 North to 515 North  to Rt. 94 North.   Look for sign for AT parking on the right, 2.2 miles from Vernon stoplight.  Meet in this parking lot. Route 94 to Greenwood Lake (Rt 511). Tall sign for A&P/Sears
I 287 North: Take Exit 55 to Rt. 511N. Pass through town of Wanaque and entrance to the Wanaque Reservoir. Continue on 511 past Skyline Drive, Stonetown Road and Dam. Go over Monksville Reservoir and pass Long Pond Iron Works State Park. The next landmark is Awosting Road, clearly marked. Just before sign for Greenwood Airport, turn right onto Greenwood Lake Road. Follow this road past some marinas and lake shores. Shortly thereafter, you will see a shopping center with an A&P and Sears. There will be a tall sign/marquis by the road side in the shopping center parking lot. Meet by this sign.

St Alban's Episcopal Church, Oakland, NJ

From the East: George Washington Bridge to Interstate 80 West, or Lincoln Tunnel to NJ Turnpike North to Interstate 80 West. From Interstate 80 West, take Rt. 17 North. At the Rt. 17 and Rt. 4 intersection, go west on Rt. 4. ***Where Rt. 4 and Rt. 208 split, stay to the right and follow Rt. 208. Rt. 208 merges with Interstate 287 South just before Oakland. When you reach Oakland, take Exit 58 (Oakland-Rt. 202). At the end of exit ramp(traffic light), turn right on to Rt. 202 North (Ramapo Valley Road). ****On Rt. 202 North (Ramapo Valley Road), turn right at Pawnee and at the top of Pawnee (third intersection) turn right on to Monhegan and left on to Manito. Follow Manito up the hill and turn right onto Church Lane, just before the end of Manito. Follow the signs to St. Alban's.

OR From the George Washington Bridge, take Rt. 4 West and follow the directions above after the ***.

From the West: Take Interstate 80 East to Interstate 287 North and continue until Exit 58 (Oakland). At bottom of ramp (traffic light), turn left onto West Oakland Ave. At the next traffic light (at railroad tracks), turn left on to Rt. 202 North (Ramapo Valley Road). Follow the directions above to St. Alban's after the ****.

From the South: Take the Garden State Parkway North to Exit 160. At the bottom of the ramp (traffic light), turn left onto State Rt. 62 (Passaic Street); stay in the right lane. After the next traffic light, take first exit ramp to the right to Rt. 4 West. Follow the directions above from ***. OR Take Interstate 287 North, and follow directions above (as though you were coming from the West).

From the North: Take the New York Thruway to Exit 15 (Suffern). Take Interstate 287 South to Exit 58 (Oakland). At bottom of ramp (traffic light), turn right on Rt. 202 North (Ramapo Valley Road). Follow the directions above to St. Alban's after the **** .

Sandy Hook (Gateway National Recreation Area) 1st Parking Area, NJ

Garden State Parkway: Exit 117 Follow Route 36 East about 15 miles to Highlands, NJ, cross the draw bridge over the Navesink River and follow the signs to the jug handle entrance to the park. Meet in the first parking area. (to calculate time, remember GSP exit numbers are mile markers).

Schooley's Mountain, Long Valley, NJ Parking Lot

I-80 to Exit 27: Rt. 206 South. Follow Rt. 206 South (approximately 7-8 miles) to Rt. 24/513 West (right turn at the light). Continue from * below.

I-78 (East or West) to I-287 North to Exit 22B Bedminster/Netcong. Follow Rt. 206 North (approximately 9.5 miles from where Rt. 202 and Rt. 206 split) to Rt. 24/513 West (left turn at the light). Continue from * below.

* Follow Rt. 24/513 for about 5 miles to the center of Long Valley. Turn right on to Schooley's Mountain Road and proceed past the Washington Municipal building. Turn right onto Camp Washington Road and follow until the end. Turn right onto Springtown Road and turn into the park on the right (after the Morris County Park Commission) towards the parking lot at the far end at the road (past the playing field).

Shepherd Lake, Ringwood, NJ      Parking Lot on Right by Boat Launch

Rt. 17 North or South: Take Ringwood/West Milford Exit—about 1 mile North of the Rt. 87 Exit 15A, and just South of the town of Sloatsburg. Stay on this road (Sterling Mine/Sloatsburg Rd.) . In about 4 miles you will pass Ringwood State Park (Ringwood Manor) on your right. In about ½ mile, at the sign for Skylands Botanical Gardens/Skylands Manor/Shepherd Lake, turn left onto Morris Road and **continue for about 1.2 miles to entrance to Skylands Botanical Gardens (stone eagles). Turn left here, following sign to Shepherd Lake for about ¾ mile to entrance. Meet by small parking area near boat launch on right.
I-287, Exit 57, Skyline Drive, Ringwood, NJ either direction.
Southbound: bear right on ramp, you will be on Skyline Drive.
Northbound: make left at end of ramp. Go through stop light and under overpass. You will then be on Skyline Drive. Go about 5 miles over Ramapo Mountain to town of Ringwood. I-80 to I-287 South to Exit 17. Bear right to go around the circle on to Rt 206 South or Rt 78 to I-287 South to Exit 17. Bear right to go around the circle onto Rt 206 South.
Route 206 South for about 7 miles to CR 514 West/Amwell Road. Turn right and after 2.8 miles, turn left onto East Mountain Road.  Continue for 1.9 miles to the park entrance on the right. Parking area is straight ahead.

South Branch Raritan River, Clinton, NJ

Rt. 76 Westbound, Exit 15-Clinton. Bear right at exit ramp before traffic light.  Go one block and turn left (Landmark to watch for: The Clinton House will be on the corner).  Cross over the iron bridge and turn left just past the Clinton Canoe and Kayak Shop. The parking lot is on the right. Sign will read PRIVATE PARKING-BOATERS ONLY

South Mountain Reservation / Locust Grove Meeting Place (near MILBURN, NJ)

Route 280 to Exit 7 “Pleasant Valley Way, Milburn/Verona”. Turn South onto Pleasant Valley Way, which is a left turn from the exit ramp off the highway. Go straight on Pleasant Valley Way about 3 miles. When you cross Northfield Ave, you enter South Mountain Reservation. Pleasant Valley Way becomes Cherry Lane. Continue straight on Cherry Lane, which becomes Brookside Drive. Turn left at light onto Glen Ave and make another left into parking lot for Locust Grove parking after one long block. No restroom facilities!

South Mountain Reservation /  Tulip Springs Meeting Place (near West Orange, NJ)

Rt. 280 to Exit 7 “Pleasant Valley Way, Milburn/Verona”.  Turn South onto Pleasant Valley Way, which is a left turn from the exit ramp off the highway.  Go straight on Pleasant Valley Way about 3 miles.  When you cross Northfield Ave, you enter South Mountain Reservation.  Pleasant Valley Way becomes Cherry Lane. Turn left at the Tulip Springs Boy Scout area, and bear immediately right down the hill to the parking lot on your right near several picnic tables and a picnic shelter.

Splitrock Reservoir, Marcella, NJ    Meet at boat launch parking lot

From I-80, take US Route 23 north to County Rt. 513 S, Green Pond Road Exit. Follow 513 south for 5.3 miles to the town of Marcella, turning left on to Upper Hibernia Road (across from Marcella Community Center). In 1.1 miles, turn left on to Splitrock Road. Splitrock Road changes from a paved road to a dirt road.. Cross a long one-lane bridge and park in boat launch parking lot on the left.

From the south, take exit 37 of Rt 80 on to County Rt. 513 N. Follow 513 north for approximately 7 miles, turning right onto Upper Hibernia Road (across from Marcella Community Center). In 1.1 miles, turn left on to Split Rock Road, which changes from a paved road to a dirt road. Cross a long one-lane bridge and park in the boat launch parking lot on the left.

Staples Parking Lot on Route 202, Oakland, NJ

From Route 287, take Exit 58. Turn left at the end of the ramp. Turn right at the light (cross the railroad tracks). This is Route 202. In half a block you'll see Staples on the left. Turn left before Staples.

Sterling Forest State Park / Visitors’ Center Meeting Place

(near Tuxedo, NY) About a 15-minute drive from Suffern, N.Y.
In NJ, take Route 17 North OR Route 287 North to NY Thruway/Route 87 North towards Albany. Take first exit, 15A Suffern/Sloatsburg, off NY Thruway. Turn left at light onto Route 17 North (Do not confuse NY Route 17 North with the NJ one – these are separate highways.) Take first main exit bearing right for Route 72 / Sterling Mine Road. Drive about 2.8 miles to traffic light for Route 84 / Long Meadow Road. Turn right on Route 84. Travel about 3.6 miles to Old Forge Road on the left. Turn left on Old Forge Road and follow it to the Sterling Forest Visitor Center (which will be a log building on your left, slightly down the hill.) Since parking at the Visitor Center is limited to 15 minutes, you must park in the “Highlands Environmental Research” parking lot on your right off Old Forge Rd. (and up the hill across from the Visitor’s Center). Meet the AFW group on the front porch of the Visitor’s Center.

Stokes State Forest - Ranger Station Parking Lot

Take I-287 to  Rt 80 West, go 9.5 miles. Exit at 34B for NJ 15 North, go 18 miles to 206 North. Go 6.7 miles. Turn right on to Courson Road. Park by Stokes State Forest Ranger Station.

Stonetown Recreation Fields Parking Lot

I-287 to Exit 55 - Rt 511. Take Rt 511 North, go left on Stonetown Road over Monksville Dam.  Continue on Stonetown Road for an estimated 3 miles until you come to a sign "Stonetown Recreation Complex" (baseball fields) on the right. Park in this parking lot. Note -- you will not be able to see the baseball fields from the street itself.

Sunrise Mountain, NJ Parking Lot

US 206 North or South to Culver's Gap. Turn North on to County Route 636 (Upper North Shore Rd), just north of Culver's Lake. Continue on Sunrise Mt. Road to the Sunrise Mt. Parking Lot.

Sussex Branch Trail - Waterloo Road Parking Lot

From the North: Take Rt. 206 South to Byram. You will pass a large Shop-Rite shopping center on the left, then a car wash. At the light past the junk yard, turn right on to Waterloo Rd., CR-604. * You will pass through a 'stone gate.' Look on the right for the packed cinder parking area across from Continental Dr.
From the South (Netcong): Take Rt. 206 North. At the light past Acorn Street, turn left on to Waterloo Rd., CR-604. Follow from * above.
From the South (Morristown):Take I-287 North to I-80 West to 206 North. At the light past Acorn Street, turn left on to Waterloo Rd., CR-604. Follow from * above.
From the East and West: Take I-80 West to Rt. 206 North. At the light past Acorn Street, turn left on to Waterloo Rd., CR-604. Follow from * above.

Tallman Mountain State Park First Parking Lot

From the South and George Washington Bridge:
North on Palisades Interstate Parkway to Exit 4, Route 9W. Turn left (North) on to Route 9W, go 4 miles to Rockland Rd. (Sign: Tallman Mountain State Park) Turn right on to Rockland Rd.; make a quick right into park.

From the North and Tappan Zee Bridge:
Take Palisades Pkwy South to Exit 4 turn right (North) on to Route 9W, go 4 miles to Rockland Rd. (Sign: Tallman Mountain State Park) Turn right onto Rockland Rd.; make a quick right into park.

Terrace Pond, Wawayanda State Park, NJ Parking Lot

Take NJ Route 23 to the Clinton Road exit, just west of Newfoundland. Proceed north on Clinton Road for 7.3 miles to a large parking area on the west side (left) of the road, just north of the entrance to the Wildcat Mt. Wilderness Site. If you're coming from the north, take Warwick Turnpike to Clinton Road and proceed south 1.7 miles to the parking area.

Tohickon Valley County Park, Bucks County, PA Park near Cafferty Road

Take 78 W from I-287 for approximately 14 miles. Take Exit 15 and go south on CR-513 to Frenchtown (~11 miles). In Frenchtown, turn right on to Bridge Street and cross into Pennsylvania. Turn left on to River Road (PA Rt 32), which goes down along the west side of the Delaware River. Turn right onto Cafferty Road (just after Point Pleasant Baptist Church, which is on your right). Tohickon Valley County Park entrance is on left in ~1.4 miles. Park as close to Cafferty Road as possible.

The Tourne, NJ - Parking Area by Ballfield

I-287 From the South: Exit 43/Intervale Rd. Turn left onto Intervale Rd and cross over I-287. At first light, turn Right onto Fanny Rd. At second stop sign, turn Right onto West Main St. Quick Left fork onto Powerville Rd, then quick Left on to McCaffrey Lane into Park Entrance. Continue driving through the park until you come to a parking lot on the left by the ball field.

I-287 From the North: Exit 45/Myrtle Ave. Turn Left onto Myrtle Ave, go approx 0.8 mi and turn Right onto Main St. Go approx 1 mi and bear Right onto Powerville Rd. Then quick Left on to McCaffrey Lane into Park Entrance. Continue driving through the park until you come to a parking lot on the left by the ball field.

From Route 46: Take the Boulevard(County Route 618) off Route 46 through Mountain Lakes. Continue on the Boulevard to a fork in the road and bear left onto Powerville Road. The first road on the left is McCaffrey Lane, which is the access road to the park. Continue driving through the park until you come to a parking lot on the left by the ball field.

From: Route 80: Take the Denville Exit 38. Follow Route 46 EAST through Denville to Mountain Lakes. Turn RIGHT onto the Boulevard through Mountain Lakes. Bear LEFT onto Powerville Road. Take the first left, McCaffrey Lane, the access road to the park. Continue driving through the park until you come to a parking lot on the left by the ball field.

Tuxedo NY Commuter Parking Lot on Route 17 North

From I-287 or NY Thruway at Suffern NY take Exit 15A Route 17 North. At light, turn left on to Route 17 North, Tuxedo is 10 minutes north. Just past the railroad station, turn right, cross the tracks. The commuter lot is immediately on left, before the Ramapo River.

Wading River, Green Bank, NJ

Garden State Parkway Southbound, Exit 52 - Tuckerton.  Bear to the left off the exit. Turn right onto Rt.95 South. Approximately 2 miles, turn right onto Rt. 542. Approximately 7.5 miles on the right hand side you will see Belhaven Canoe and Kayaks.

Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge on Oil City Road Parking Lot

From NJ Rt 23, take 284 N toward Unionville, NY. Just before center of town, make a right on to Oil City Road. In approximately 0.5 miles, Oil City Road turns right. This part of the road is also known as State Line Road.  Cross the Wallkill River.  Park in the first large parking lot on the right (~1 mile), which has a sign indicating the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge.

Walpack Inn Parking Lot, Walpack, NJ

Route 206 North through Newton.  From Newton Square, go approximately 4.5 miles to traffic light and Exxon station.  Make a hard left at light on to Route 206.  Pass Yetter’s Diner and continue on Route 206 until you see sign for Walpack Inn and Rosie’s Pizzeria Restaurant.  Make a left on to 560 West.  At blinking light in Layton, stay straight on 640 West.  At junction (bend in road) bear right on 615 South until you get to Peter’s Valley.  615 ends, but you continue straight on this road until you get to the Walpack Inn.  Park on extreme right side of the Walpack Inn parking lot.  (It is approximately 16 miles from Newton Square to the Walpack Inn.)

Watchung Reservation / Seeley's Pond Meeting Place

NEW MEETING PLACE at Seeley's Pond Picnic Area (near Watchung, NJ)

Note on directions: There are two sets of directions for the Watchung Reservation Hike because access ramps eastbound and westbound Route 78 are not in the same location.

West bound: Route 78 to Exit 43 (Diamond Hill Road). At the end of the exit, you need to turn left, but it may involve going right and making a U-turn. Head east on Diamond Hill Road. Turn left at the traffic light onto NJ route 527 – also known as Valley Road. Make your first right into parking lot for Seeley’s Pond Picnic Area just after the sign for Watchung Reservation.

Eastbound: Route 78 to Exit 43 Berkeley Heights, Watchung. Drive to traffic light and turn left on Valley Road/527 North. Straight thru next traffic light (Diamond Hill Road), then right at first opportunity into parking lot for Seeley’s Pond Picnic Area just after the sign for Watchung Reservation.

Watchung Reservation, near Watchung, NJ  Trailside Science and Nature Museum Meeting Place

Note:  There are two sets of directions for Watchung Reservation Hike because access ramps Eastbound and Westbound Route 78 are not in the same location.

Westbound:  Route 78 to Exit 43 (Diamond Hill Road). At the end of the exit, you need to turn right off the exit, go through the first traffic light, then turn right into the corporate office parking lot, come back out to the road, and turn left (this makes a legal U-turn). Head East on Diamond Hill Road.  Turn left at the traffic light onto NJ Route 527, also known as Valley Road.  Turn right (on first road) at Sky Top Road.  Sky Top Road becomes Coles Ave.  You will pass through a residential section but continue straight to the “Trailside Science and Nature Museum” parking lot.  (Just at the parking lot, the road curves sharply right- this is your signal to look ahead to the parking lot.)

Eastbound:  Route 78 to Exit 43 Berkeley Heights, Watchung.  Drive to traffic light and turn left on Valley Road/527 North.  Straight through next traffic light (Diamond Hill Road), then right at first road (Route 527 continues left).  This is Sky Top/Coles Ave., although there is no street sign. Wawayanda State Park, NJ Visitors' Center

From Rt. 23 North or South: Exit at Union Valley Rd. Take Union Valley Rd. about 6 miles to stop sign. From stop sign, go to second traffic light. Turn left, travel to fork in road (about 2 miles); go left about 1/2 mile to Warwick Turnpike. Turn left. The park entrance is four miles on the left.  Meet near Visitors' Center.

Weis Ecology Center Parking Area

Northbound: Route I-287 to Exit 55, Rt. 511. Go towards Wanaque, Rt 511 North. After about 4 miles turn left on West Brook Road (just past the Skyline Diner). Continue with Stonetown Rd. directions.*

Southbound: Route I-287 to Exit 57 (Ringwood). Bear right for Skyline Drive. Follow Skyline Drive to end, (a T), turn left on 511 South. Make a right on West Brook Road (just past restaurant on corner).
*Keep left at junction with Stonetown Road after crossing the reservoir. One half mile after junction, turn left on to Snake Den Road. Drive uphill bearing left to the parking area on the right just before the gate to the Weis Ecology Center.

William Paterson University Parking Lot, Wayne, NJ

I-287 North Exit 59 to Rt. 208 South to High Mountain Road.

Traveling North on Rt. 208 take the Colonial Road/Franklin Lakes exit.  Turn left at the end of the ramp on Colonial Road then the next left onto High Mt. Road.  Continue along High Mt. Road through the stop sign and circle to the fork (about 3 miles).  Take the RIGHT fork onto Belmont. Stay on Belmont to the first traffic light.  Go right and through the WPU gate (entry 6) a short distance up the road.  At the “T“ intersection go right and continue to Lot 6.  Park close to the top near the road.

Woodstock, NY Bread Alone Bakery

Take NY State Thruway (Rt I-87) North to Exit 19 (Kingston exit).  Take the first right off the traffic circle (Rt. 28 West).  At the third set of lights (5.7 miles), take a right on Rt. 375 to Rt. 212 (3 miles) and turn left toward the center of the Village of Woodstock.  Look for signs for municipal parking on the right.  Park in the parking lot and then walk back to the street.  Bread Alone is a bakery with table and chairs in the back.  We’ll meet there and carpool to the trailhead.

Wyckoff Environmental Center, Wyckoff, NJ

From Route 4 West: At the fork after the GS Parkway and Paramus Avenue exits, take the right fork that becomes Route 208 North. From 208, take the first Goffle Road Exit. Make a right onto Goffle Road at the end of the exit ramp. At a "T" intersection, turn left onto Godwin Avenue and follow approximately 1.8 miles. Make a right onto Crescent Avenue. The Center (James McFaul Environmental Center) is on the right hand side at the bend in the road.

From 287 North and South:  Exit onto 208 South. Take the Ewing Avenue exit. At the end of the exit ramp, make a left onto Ewing. At the first light, make a right onto Franklin Avenue. Follow Franklin through 1 light, RR tracks and 1 more light. Go through the 2nd light and take your 3rd right (look for the round green Environmental Center sign), this is Crescent Avenue. The Center is on the left hand side at the bend on the road
