Bike Rides
Bike Rides are easy-to-moderate one-day outings for members who would like to try cycling with a friendly, non-competitive group. These rides are moderately paced on generally flat or rolling, well-maintained bike trails or country roads. They will be from 10 AM to 2 PM, and average from 15 to 25 miles.
Each participant must bring a bike in good working order and must wear an ANSI or SNELL standard helmet that fits. If you do not have a suitable bike, contact Mary (973-644-3592) about the possibility of finding a "loaner" for the day.

Ride with AFW along quiet roads in Hunterdon County. The route for both rides includes river and countryside views. The April ride includes longer distance and more rolling hills than the October ride. The April/October pairing will let us see the countryside in Spring and Fall colors.
The April ride will be 25-30 miles along Hunterdon County’s moderately hilly country roads. As of this writing, the choice of routes has not been finalized. All routes under consideration include hills, flats and views of the countryside and the Delaware River.
In October, the ride will begin and end at the Clinton Staging area, 66 Overlook Drive, Clinton, NJ. We will meet and set out on a 14-18 mile ride. After a 10-minute ride on a sidewalk, the surface will be a hard-packed gravel bike trail for 2 miles and quiet, paved county roads for the rest of the ride. As we ride to our picnic spot, we will have the South Branch of the Raritan River on one side and beautiful hillside horse farms on the other. The route will include flat roads, some rolling terrain and one or two hills.
Bring your well-maintained road or trail bike, your ANSI or SNELL standard helmet and your lunch and join us. If you do not have a suitable bike, contact Mary (973-644-3592) about the possibility of finding a "loaner" for the day.
